You could go with the existarians, and say "Why does there have to be a meaning?" But I find that a little less colorful than I like things to be.

In my own personal opinion, the purpose of existance is trial and error. I believe that we live to play the largest, most intriguing game there is. Now, you may ask what my reasoning for that is- and I can tell you that I have no idea. I've given much thought to the what the ultimate answers could be, and all I've found is a waste of productive time.

Or maybe I haven't! A moment's dawning just slapped me in the face. Everyone's always asking "why, why, why", but perhaps there isn't an answer in the way we're searching for! Perhaps the meaning of life is to simply question.

...This is more poetic than I had hoped for. I need sleep. Or do I?

When you figure it out, will you let me know?

Good point. Isn't there a poem like that? I think it's about a poem-- "A poem should not mean, just be."

Does anyone remember who wrote that? A rep point for the first person who gets it right.
Archibald MacLeish

--------

Ars Poetica

A poem should be palpable and mute
As a globed fruit

Dumb
As old medallions to the thumb

Silent as the sleeve-worn stone
Of casement ledges where the moss has grown -

A poem should be wordless
As the flight of birds

A poem should be motionless in time
As the moon climbs

Leaving, as the moon releases
Twig by twig the night-entangled trees,

Leaving, as the moon behind the winter leaves,
Memory by memory the mind -

A poem should be motionless in time
As the moon climbs

A poem should be equal to:
Not true

For all the history of grief
An empty doorway and a maple leaf

For love
The leaning grasses and two lights above the sea -

A poem should not mean
But be

-- Archibald MacLeish

If I'm regular once a day, who cares about trying to understand the meaning of life. I took a poop today and I'm happy.

Thank you

It is my dear people
to be human with all its foibles and faults
and to do good for others
to give as if it was your last
and to take to allow the one who is giving pleasure in what they give
life in all its perplexity and doubt
causes us to walk outside look up at the stars
and wonder just how great it is to live surrounded by such beauty
and to know...that in being human we have achieved the ultimate in perfection

(I am too philosophical these days...must be something in the water)

I'll wait another 2000 years to find out. :)

Kansas! Again.
We each make our own meaning, thus, each life has its own.
