The 2010 Vancouver Olympics Thread

The worst thing about watching the Olympics? The sappy commercials from P&G or other products about "Thanks Mom", like only Moms raise Olympians. Granted, Moms likely do the majority of work, but all I can think is yeah, Apolo Ohno's dad didn't do much.

how is it decided to not air the us/canada hockey game?
i really would be that viewership would have been way up for that game. insane.

There's this drive for networks (and even sports leagues) to push their cable properties for sporting events despite getting max viewers on network TV. I don't know exactly why, but I guess somebody behind the scenes is doing some math that puts a higher value on putting the games on cable and guarding the hell out of the footage (which is why we're only seeing still shots of the game on SportsCenter instead of full replays, like it's a pay-per-view boxing match or something).

that just blows.

Man, Canada is killing Russia right now. Every other time I turn around they're scoring.
