And while I'm here, let me just set the record straight.

You're all saying nice things about my daughter and I baking cakes. Really, that was no big deal. The issue is this: I write an occasional column, for one of our local newspapers, in which I regularly lambaste SA society for its lack of community spirit - 'Where is the unity in diversity?' type of thing. Why is Ubuntu not working? (Check Ubuntu on Wikipaedia - for some reason it won't post as a link here.) I really give it stick and upset a lot of people but the editor seems to like it.

So. Yesterday's turnout at the fete proved me wrong. I'm thrilled about that. I already have the next article all planned and will give credit where credit is due. It's the sudden appearance of community spirit that got me all excited.
