My first two books (of a series) are published by a small press, and the contract says I have to submit my next book to them first (right of first refusal).

My question is, does this apply if I self-publish the next book?

A) Am I free to self-publish the third book of the series?

If no, then B) Am I free to self-publish a book unrelated to the series?

Thanks!

You need to read your contract carefully, and perhaps consult someone familiar with publishing contracts.

We can't give you legal advice.

We can't give you appropriate legal advice. You have to ask your agent what's appropriate or, failing that, your publisher. Or the Society of Authors, if you're a member.
