AllAboutWords: I think most of us find mistakes in the middle of writing a first draft. The key is to plod onwards anyway and make notes to change whatever we found out we needed to change. Maybe you can write down all the changes you need to make in the beginning in a notepad and go on with the story as if you've changed the beginning?
