I wrote my haiku when I was in 11th grade and read it aloud. People laughed.
I reused the same haiku in 12th grade, and I told them so. I read it aloud. People laughed.
I posted my haiku on this forum. The reception seems to be good.

So, can I still publish my old haiku in a literary journal/magazine?

Which subforum did you post it in? If it's a password-protected one, such as SYW, you're okay to submit it.

Yeah. It's SYW.

So, publishing in a classroom does not count as publishing?

What about publishing in an oral presentation?

I'm not an IP attorney, but it seems to me these (reading to a limited audience where the general public is not invited) are not "publications."

There's an "Ask The Agent" forum around here somewhere that might be more appropriate for this question - don't post a new thread there, just ask a mod if they can move this one. They're usually good about doing that sort of thing.

"Reading your haiku aloud in class" is not the same as "publication".

If you can find a literary journal willing to publish them I'd say you're good to go, but if you're worried then ask the publication if they're happy with the haikus' status.
