Q: When doesn't a query rejection sting...?

...maybe they bother because you sent them a query?

Oh, I've been there.

A story I've told before:

I got the only personalized rejection I received in the whole process when my book was on submission.

It was a wam-doozer, too. That agent HATED IT. I've always felt like there was something a bit...malevolent in that rejection, but I'll never know. (I had written her a month or so before telling her that I was going with another agent; maybe there's something there.) Nor do I really care.

Congrats. Yeah show em who is he winner! Ha!

I got a rejection after I'd already signed else where. That was the first time my heart didn't sank upon opening my email or mail box. So glad to be off that rollercoaster. Now, on to the ride of my life: trying to nail down the publishers who are seriously considering 2 of my MS, but haven't signed on the dotted line...yet.

Good show, Barb. Rejections that make you smile smugly must be rare. Treasure those.

That was sweet Babrique. And Will's stories too. Those are the only kind of rejections I want to see, ever.

3 months isn't unusual. It could take longer.
