It's the moment/day of truth for my laptop. Repair Guy will probably let me know today.

Good morning all you morning people.

It's the moment/day of truth for my laptop. Repair Guy will probably let me know today.

*frets*

I hope this works out.

On this end. I just had a nice chat with head of personnel. Last April, they transfered me from the Juku part of the company to the high school. Nice pay increase, better hours, more days off. Good all around.

Unfortunately, one of the other foreign teachers just up and decided to quit at the last moment. Now they want me back. It looks, hopefully, that I'll be able to keep the pay increase, since it is "an emergency".

Sucks. That part of the company has horrifyingly few days off, and tends to work a later shift. This means child care will fall more heavily on my wife. I really don't wanna do that.

But, I'm still counting my blessings. I have a job. And it's a good thing when different parts of a company are fighting over who gets to keep you, right?

Debio just wants his days off.

Isn't it, like, 4am for you? :Wha:

I ate something that disagreed with me. I'm just sipping water at the moment and waiting for it to settle down.
Fen is on daylight savings, so it's probably even worse than we suspect. Safer not to ask really. Get better soon. :Hug2:

It's nice that there's an upside, but yeah, sounds a bit tough. I hope it works out. :Hug2:

It'll be fine. :Hug2:

Too early :gaah

I'm beginning to think I'm not a very nice person. I am so very very cruel to my characters.

Is being nice to your characters a prerequisite for being a nice person? Dammit :D

June, I would have never taken you for a cruel person :D

Maybe I would have thought the same, that I was just being a good writer. But my tendency to cackle maniacally as I put my heroes through the metaphorical wringer is a dead giveaway.

If only it weren't so damned FUN!

;)

Sometimes, looking at the bright side is a good thing. We're going through a reorg at my bill-paying job as well. Of course, I go back to a supervisor I was trying to avoid when I took my present position. *sigh*

As long as it isn't me, I'm cool with that.

Anyway, characters are, or should be, already at the "Oh, SHIT!" level of the patented "Life Sucks Scale". MCs generally are at 2 or 3 levels above that.

Good Morning Gang!

Daylight saving isn't too bad for me right now. Where as I used to wake up at 4:30am my clock now reads 5:30 and I feel a little better about the lack of sleep I got. But honestly, DST is still pretty stupid. Case in point:

Yeeaah...

Now to figure out how to get a big Word doc onto my Fire so I can do this beta read I've been neglecting. ;)

I think we need this scale codified. With examples. Before the start of next class, please. ;)

:e2bouncey This is exactly how I'm feeling write now. Maybe I need to sleep.

First I need to make sure I have removed all unnecessary "there"s from my manuscript. I still have a couple left. Less than 10 now.

I just happen to have a proposed version I am happy to put up for discussion...

The Life Sucks Scale For Characters

10: **SPLAT**
9: What did you do to my leg?!?!
8: You let him eat it????
7 : O Gods! Please put down that chainsaw! The vacuum cleaner too! Please?
6: Cancer again?
5; Pfthtth. So she left me. Is that all you got?
4: Ow!
3: I'm skilled, I'll find another job.
2: Sorry, officer I really DON'T know how those drugs got there.
1: Stop poking me. Mom! she's doing it again.

My Kindle Fire will burn your words and make them meaningless!! Muwahahaha! :evil

Heh, no worries there. I write in a pretty spare way. I'm constantly worried that my words actually are meaningless already. So your Kindle Fire can't do any worse...

Recalculating....
"Wait a minute, Doc. Are you telling me you built a mult-quote out of DeLorean?"

Went down town this morning went round a shop called Forbidden Planet, lots of role playing stuff, some of which I hadn't seen for about 25 years. It was a very friendly shop though, a nice spread of geeks. There was a Games Workshop next door. Two nerds were playing something at one of the tables. I nearly freaked when part way through working out what went where one of them produced a tape measure. What kind of game requires the use of a tape measure? I think I might take up Munchkins, it looks pretty stupid and I don't think I'll need a tape measure to play.

*overly-dramatic sigh*

*wishes there was an epic geek store like that nearby*

Also, Munchk1n FTW. Hi-Larious.

Dancing llamas.

Quote Booked.

Children, no matter their age, are wonderful.

Also Quote Bookerferated.

*wanders into the Cantina, dodging something with pointed ears she doesn't quite recognize, and takes a seat at the bar*

Welcome to the Cantina, Pallas!

Rampant Smartassery is the name of my next band.

I think I'm with you on this, but it's all very fine shades of disturbingly unattractive...

And a Twofer quote for the Quote Book.

In other news, I am distributing hugs today. Who wants some?

Please.

Now that the child is done sabotaging my computer and calling 9-1-1, I believe I shall get to work. Oy.

BWA-HA-...uh, I mean, how awful.

We should change the name of the Cantina to Innuendo Central.

Anything would be better than the current name. Most names have been subtle put downs or slights on our strangeness lately and its getting old. No pun intended.

By all things holy, yes. Our current "name" might as well be: "The Beige Oatmeal Stale Cracker of Epic Meh Whatevers".

*runs into Cantina*

I still exist!

*runs out again*

Can't stop. Life-ing. Stuff. Gah.

Hey! It's Ps-

Well, hell....

I knew that Boston didn't mind sausage :D.

Is this news to you guys?

Quote. BOOKED!

We figured Oh, big shock Paging Dr. Obvious You don't say....

Just in case...

Look out the window, do you see dark impenetrable clouds in the sky and/or columns of smoke rising from various parts of the city and/or unusually abandoned streets in front of your building?

If the answer was "yes" to any of the above you should do the following:

1. come back and post here immediately so the rest of us can get a head start.

2. Pack up your belongings and flee the city.

3. Find a twelve year old girl to hang out with, they always seem to survive.

Adding to my SOP for the Zahmabie Apoxylips Survival Plan.

I'm beginning to think I'm not a very nice person. I am so very very cruel to my characters.

The two are mutally exclusive (as evidenced below).

Is being nice to your characters a prerequisite for being a nice person? Dammit :D

EVIDENCE: 10s is one of the nicest people out there, but she is buh-RUTAL to her characters.

In other news I have celery.
