Ya'll not finding Ika Musume funny clearly means you're all crazy.

Weirdos.
Hang on...you know this is the anime discussion thread, right? Anyone who watches anime is clearly insane :D

I'm also still following Dantalian no Shoka, which is still cool, meaning the episodes with the violin player and the fighter pilots.

The show grew on me. At first I thought it was mildly interesting, and now I like it a lot. I like the range of episodes, different styles united by a calm mood. Also: probably my favourite opening and ending this season.

Dantalian is my favorite of the summer season :D It reminds me of Kino's Journey in the fact that it's just so freaking unique. The opening and endings are probably on my list of all-time favorites, considering the music/video blends are fantastic.

Watching the first episode of Fate/zero in a few minutes here. If things don't load faster I'm going to kill something out of impatience.

Yes, the opening has good music. I listen to it on youtube sometimes.

11 episodes of boring generic high school sequences and eye-candy battles to finally get to the good episode of Blood-C. And all-in-all, even if the the series was nothing at all but long, drawn-out set-up for the movie, it will have been worth it. Fuuuuck, I want to see Saya kick some ass next summer. (Even though we won't' get anything but shitty camrips until 2013...) Just like Eva and Kizumonogatari and K-On! and Strike Witches and....

Well, 2013 will be a good year for anime Blu-rays!

ETA: I do have to wonder if she's seriously going to be missing half her face the entire movie. ...Hey! She should become friends with Asuka! I imagine they'd have a lot to talk about together...

Between there and there
Air Gear . . . once upon a time it had coherency.
Now I just make WTF faces at it as I vainly try to gather together some semblance of what the plot may be or WTH is going on in each chapter.

I STILL have to finish watching Blood-C. I love it purely on the basis of being a CLAMP geek (just watched the anime version of Angelic Layer...they messed up the freaking ending, but OH WELL). Nice to know when I DO finish it I'll be getting the end of a giant set-up.

I'll be watching the anime in the very near future :D

Fate/zero episode 1: OH. MY. GOD. Is it too soon to declare it the best of the season?

Blood-C: Great fighting scenes; Great slaughter porn; Nice soundtrack; servicable plot; characterisation next to none. Ultimately nothing special. Didn't think the last episode stood out particularly. Not yet sure whether I'll watch the movie. I think they made a mistake by going for the twist rather than dramatic irony.

Heh, I'm going to love Kimi to Boku and Tamayura. The former has my sort of humour (and grumpy cats), and the latter's just sweet (too sweet to marathon without acquiring diabetes, though).

Suddenly Dantalian no Shoka ended, and the ending didn't make much sense, but never mind. It's very nice with librarians fighting by reading literature.

I've noticed that many new series have just started with an episode 1.

Today's watching list:

Finish summer stuff that I can...Blood-C, Ao no Exorcist, Dantalian no Shoka and Mayo Chiki!.

Get started on a few more summer things: new Ika Musume, Tamayura, Kimi to Boku.

And my other series I happen to be watching right now: Tokyo Majin.

Chihayafuru had a surprisingly good first episode. I got the what-over-already? feeling, and I rarely ever get that even with shows I love.

From the things I was supposed to watch yesterday...I did like none of it. I won't have much time for anime today, either, at least not for the next...12 hours. But I'll get myself caught up and finished. I can't review these things until I finish them, after all.

Yesterday I finally reviewed Ano Hana.

I'm in this really strange phase where I'm watching anime based solely on whether I know any of the voice actors. Right now, I'm watching Rental Magica, which I didn't even get through the first episode of because I was laughing when I think it was supposed to be dramatic and heartstring-pulling or something, but it was not done in a way that made me give a crap.

Then I found out that Jun Fukuyama voices the main character. And then I got past the first episode and the second episode onward was actually pretty good. *sigh* Incidentally, I've discovered another of my favorite voice actors voices a side character.

I started watching Phantom because Ayahi Takagaki voices one of the major characters, but it was set up as one of those depressing everyone-loses sort of things, and I'm in a "happy happy joy joy" phase right now. But it was good. I may end up watching more someday.

And I stupidly fell in love with Phi Brain. I mean, PUZZLES!!! ZOMG!!! (Also, apparently Jun Fukuyama voices a character who I don't believe appeared in the first episode. ...okay, fine! I admit, I wasn't going to watch it until the season was over, and then I found that out, and... I think I have issues. >.<) I really never wanted to get into an ongoing anime again. I fell into that with DenYuuDen and Blue Exorcist, and despite these being my absolute favorite anime of all time, the wait was torturous. I don't do patient all that well. Oy.

Yesterday I finally reviewed Ano Hana.

...oh, man. Now I have to watch this. I'm crying already and I haven't started watching it yet.

Don't worry. I watch series based solely on if they have Hiroshi Kamiya. I am in fact so determined to get through all of his work that I force myself to watch things he's in even when I hate them (i.e. Gundam 00, Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi...and he voices characters I hate in both of those).

Incidentally, Jun and Hiroshi worked together on Durarara!!. Along with Daisuke Ono. (I think Daisuke and Hiroshi must be BFFs by now with all they've done together...though I wonder how they look each other in the eye considering the contents of a certain audio drama they did together.)

Daisuke Ono's another of my favorite voice actors. I find the sheer range of voices some Japanese voice actors can do quite amazing. Also, I keep finding that the same voice actors keep appearing in the same anime...

There's a voice actor I love whose name I can only recognize through kanji. I have no idea how to say it. I'm not sure if this makes me even more of a crazy person or just better at visual than audio remembering. :D

I just watched the first episode. I am now crying. I looked further on your blog and now I'm watching Fate Stay Night. Your anime reviews are entirely too persuasive for my own good. :tongue

I love looking at who has been in what. These days I recognize Japanese VAs so much better than English ones. And I like seeing who has worked together a lot.

Stuff it in Google translate? I've done that with names before and it usually works. I'm curious as to who it is.

I'm...relieved to know I wasn't the only one who cried in the first episode. Someone else made fun of me for it :(

And Fate/stay night is brilliant. You should also watch the brand new Fate/zero, which is the prequel. (<--shameless plug)

So, how's everyone else dealing with the 10-bit transition?

As I mentioned, it's not if I can't play the new releases. It's just far more inconvenient to do so. I like being able to manage all my own anime metadata in iTunes. MPlayer doesn't offer any management capabilities, obviously, and Plex doesn't always find everything.

Hmm. Okay.

Not sure why they didn't just make Kamisama Dolls into a 2-cour show instead of making us have to wait for the second seasons... whenever...

Testing out the market I assume? Summer sales in general weren't that great (so far), I hear, so that might well be all we get. At least for the time being.

Ooh, me too! I started watching Dantalian no Shoka the other day, and the second adult Huey started talking I was like "Holy crap, that is totally Shion's voice! It's Daisuke Ono!" And it totally WAS, and that was totally awesome and made me feel like the best kind of nerd. :D

Stuff it in Google translate? I've done that with names before and it usually works. I'm curious as to who it is.

According to Wikipedia, it's Nobuhiko Okamoto. Ooh, worked in Google translate too. I didn't know you could do that with the translator... awesome. O.O (I will probably forget his name again. I don't know why. Usually I don't have this much problem remembering someone's name...)

I'm...relieved to know I wasn't the only one who cried in the first episode. Someone else made fun of me for it :(

Aw, that's mean. :( Okay, to be honest, I probably wouldn't have cried if I weren't anticipating sadness, because it's an adorable show and my cuteness radar tends to override my sadness radar, but... *shrug*

And Fate/stay night is brilliant. You should also watch the brand new Fate/zero, which is the prequel. (<--shameless plug)

I might, after I finish Fate/stay night. I very much like this show, but I'm not sure if it's because it's a great show or I was happy while watching it because I was beading a really pretty circlet that I'm pretty happy with, or both. :D

So, how's everyone else dealing with the 10-bit transition?

Another one who watches through streaming, so I don't know. I hope you can figure something out. Inconvenience is not good. :(

Bah! Streamers...

On the other hand, I totally thought of what I'm going to name my iPhone 4S when it arrives: Juiz. :D

Hee hee... streaming is more convenient for me because streaming uses a lot less memory than downloading (I think?), and I'm on a university internet plan that involves paying ungodly amounts of money if I go past the monthly GB amount. Which, I mean, it's 50 gigs a month, and I haven't used more than 5 gigs so far, but I like to err on the side of paranoia. :D (Also, I don't rewatch most anime, so downloading it doesn't really have a point, for me.)

Also, I do not understand the meaning behind the name of your iPhone. I have a suspicion this is due to my severe lack of knowledge about most things practical and/or popular. :D

Hi! After looking around the forums for a while, I stumbled on this anime discussion thread, and well, while I haven't watched much anime lately (aka not at all) I've kept up with a lot of the scanlated manga. Mainly I'm into shonen, sports, and slice-of-life manga, but my friends have been trying to get me into more shoujo stuff. A short list of what I read (besides the popular shonen stuff): Kuroko no Basket, Diamond no Ace, Bartender, Bambino, Yureka, Beelzebub, and Gantz.

As for the current season, I'm getting the impression that Fate/Zero is something I should watch, and I'm planning on watch Last Exile mainly because I loooooved the first one.

Still trying to work my way through Kanon 2006 on the recommendation of a friend. On episode 16. Slowly but surely this is going to happen...

Methinks you have memory confused with bandwidth. Though most people tend to get memory confused with storage space...

Depends how big you download. Personally, too many streams are lower quality than the TV rips, and I rewatch stuff often enough to make streaming annoying. Well, one of the promises of 10-bit is much higher quality at a much lower file size, but it's still inconvenient when half the players and almost all the dedicated media hardware isn't there yet.

Also, I do not understand the meaning behind the name of your iPhone. I have a suspicion this is due to my severe lack of knowledge about most things practical and/or popular. :D

I don't know about practical or popular...

But it's from Eden of the East.
