I am reading through the various publications in Writer's Market and I am seeing the term "Kill Fee" a lot. Sometimes it will say "25% kill fee" or "No kill fee" or some other phrase using the term "kill fee". My question is . . what is a kill fee?? Thanks.

A kill fee is the portion of the agreed upon fee for the assigned article that the writer recieves if the magazine decides not to publish the material due to no fault of the writer.
