Same Psychosis...different day.
I have no words to report just yet - well, I do, but I have a bit more to get done by the end of the day. So I'll report in then, when I've actually met my goal. :D

I guess I'd be an evil Scrooge if I punished you this week.

If you don't tell the Brothers Flagellent, neither will I.

But, you get no turnips.
To the tune of O Christmas Tree

This weekend's gone by very fast,
And though I tried to write some,
The truth is that I done screwed up.
I'm nothing but a lazy bum.

Futility, futility.
I guess I lack ability.
I tried to write but I did not.
I should be taken out and shot.

Of course I did some editing,
And finished up a short work.
And fixed a bit on other stuff,
But nonetheless I'm still a jerk.

Futility, futility.
I guess I lack ability.
I tried to write but I did not.
I should be taken out and shot.

I took a story; cut it some
And then I did submit it.
I did a short crit for a friend,
But I am still a half wit.

Futility, futility.
I guess I lack ability.
So take my beets and keep my ink
There's just no doubt that I doth stink.

I'm sooooo sorry Haggis, that qualifies as writing. You not only get to keep your beets, but you get more.

Ok. Next week...on the 28-29 I don't care if you have no progress, I want you to set at least one goal, discuss it (them) tell us how you plan to reach that goal, outline your stages, give completion dates.

but...it is perfectly acceptable to post a word count.

I have the same goal every week for the WIP- another 5k or so...

Which I finally managed to do today.

On a side note, that doesn;t count the other writing I did, bcs I had an idea for this long standing story idea I've wanted to do, and i wrote that down. But it's kind of shapeless and amorphous still.... :D

Hey, it's the horror threads, not the humor ones.

And I can be funny... but I'd need more sleep and less alcohol... or the other way round. I'm not sure which at this point. :D

Cut Boston some slack--I post with him a lot--he's an okay guy--plus he has enough probs--being funny even when he's not hungover:D

oddly enough... I have *never* been hungover. Either I know enough when to quit or I've just got good genetics.

if it was the later and I could figure out how to duplicate the effect in others, I could make a fortune gene doping (oooh! story idea :D)

Good morning. Today is the 29th.

Goals, reflections?

word counts?

Words:

200 on the vamp rewrites.
50 on plotting the new book.

Goals:

Revise the vamp book to kick-butt level and query, query, query (by end of January the latest).
Revise the fantasy for the small pub that requested it (need for February).
Revise the mystery for the Awesome Agent that requested it (soooo overdue).
THEN work on the tantalizing WIP.

MAIN GOAL, springing from Reflections:

Land a LEGITIMATE agent with a PROVEN TRACK RECORD of sales.

Acceptable, Mistress?

This past week:

1400 words.

2 subbies.

2 acceptances.

1 held for second read.

Goals - short stories:

Subs--2006 - 1, 2007 - 7, 2008 - 28, 2009 goal - 36.

Acceptances--2006 - 0, 2007 - 1 (paying), 2008 - 4 (2 paying, 1 royalties and 1 n/p) - 2009 goal - 4 paying including at least one pro-pay.

Word count--2006 - ?, 2007 - I dunno, 2008 - 500 to 750 average, 2009 goal - 1500 to 2000.

Other--keep writing and submitting humor articles, 'cause they're fun to do.

Exquisite. You may have either chocolate or the whip. But, before you choose, the chocolate is cheap stuff left over from last Easter.

Beyond my wildest dreams. You may put your foot in the bear trap...or you may have some of that cheap chocolate I mentioned.
1105 words--6 vigns only:(

Goal for next week 1200wrds

Still that is good. Tell you what, you can whip the turnips and dip them in some of that chocolate I was discussing with Haggis.
My pillow doesn't reflect- I'll chime in when I can pick my head up off of it. :D

Ok. I have this egg-mc-muffin that I bought yesterday and didn't eat. So, I'll soak it in this wine, and I'll let you decide what to do with it.

But otherwise, your goals are usually set high, so I won't suggest that you try to share the chocolate.

AS for me:

Well, early last year when I was struggling to finish 'Shivas' DL told me that Nora should be evil.

Then, when Haggis read 'Deciding' (which is pre-'Shivas') he said Nora should be evil.

So my goal this year is to make certain, in 'Four' that Nora fulfills all of the hopes and dreams that DL and Haggis have for her.

I also plan to finish writing 'Four' To Send 'Deciding' to the Amazon contest, seriously sub out 'Shivas', and when I get the final rejections on a couple of short stories...turn them into a horror novel.

And write at least the first draft of a sword and sorcery thing.

Oh...and next week...you all better report early and often, because I have a surprise......

Since I'm a little suspicious of the chocolate's provenance (melanine from China and all that), I'd better take the whip. For research purposes: my angel from the new WIP is going to do a few very stupid things and demons are going to have their way with him about 1/2way through the book.

The true meaning of suffering for art, yes?

Haggis' location means I can never read Peanuts the same way again... especially those strips where Snoopy is playing vulture..

btw - does it count if i write the same 1000 word scene twice bcs I;m trying to decide which POV to write it in? would that be 1000 words or 2000 wds?

I'd consider it 1,000. But that's just the way I count. I try not to take credit for transient words and I only count the words that I am 97.8534%positive are the final finished words before I try to publish. You know, the words I'm not embarassed to let people read.

6 emoticons....you're setting the bar high, Haggis. It's going to be nearly impossible to top Angelique without creating a petty bitch.

Oh, well then it's going to be 2000 - they were both good, I'm just trying to decide which voice works best for the story. So, to that end, they are furthering the story even if only one of them ends up in the final word count.

I'm going to go do my hair.

:Wha:

I thought that was a wig?

Way out there
I'm switching to the second half of the book. I'm sick of the first. The doctor went to sleep and wouldn't get back up. I used the flash challenge and finally got her out of the damn bed. Onward! I'm going right now to finish at least one chapter. 1,000 words? Two? I'll let you know.

I just passed the 50K mark -- again -- and hopefully I'll stay there this time. With all this editing, it's like two steps forward, one and a half steps back.
