Hello everyone,

Quick question to any agents out there. Does anyone know what a standard written contract looks like from an agent to writer if an agency wants to sell their manuscript? I tried to do a search, but came up short.

When a writer reads their contract, is it so confusing they have to hire an outside lawyer to interpret it, or is it self-explanatory?

Thanks guys...

I'm not an agent, but I have one, and I signed a contract with her. It was a few pages long but easy to understand. It covered things like her commission and what happens if either of us decides to end things. She told me to call her if I had any questions about it. I didn't find that an outside lawyer was necessary. (I've heard that contracts with publishers can be more complicated, so many people suggest having either an agent or a lawyer look those over, but unfortunately I don't have personal experience with that yet.)
