I know I'm preaching to the choir, but this holiday season, I urge everyone to buy and give books. And when your friends or family members ask what you'd like to receive as a gift, have your list of books ready to hand them. These hard economic times will put the bite on discretionary spending, but we need to keep our industry afloat.

Come to think of it, big-ticket items (consumer electronics, cars, etc.) will probably suffer this season, so the giving of books might actually boom.

Give books? Like...give them away? To other people?

Pfft.

Buying? No problem. Not that I've noticed any economic downturn in my life, but buying more books? No problem at all.

Unfortunately the people around me don't like to read. :/

Doesn't mean I won't gift books to myself, though! :D

And yes, I did just use "gift" as a verb...ugh. Oh well.

There are people who don't like to read????

My heart just broke a little :-(

Seriously though, I have relatives who don't read much either. So.... my mom gets craft books and my uncle gets a coffee table book about cows, tractors, scenic farms or whatever (he's a dairy farmer and LOVES cows LOL).
