Got my HNS Newsletter email the other day, with a list of reviews of new historical novels.
Along with the usual later 1800s and 1930s fare, I saw a couple of stories which seemed very different:
The Gathering Night by Margaret Elphinstone, set in 6150 BC

and
Warrior Daughter by Janet Paisley, set on the Isle of Skye as BC turns into AD
http://entertainment.timesonline.co...ainment/books/book_reviews/article6394918.ece (Although I'm NOT a fan of a phrase used to describe the climax here)
There's also a non-fiction book that sounds like a ton of fun - Legionary: The Roman Soldier's Manual by Philip Matyszack
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/...-and-Legionary-by-Philip-Matyszak-review.html
Gotta run to work (yes, on Saturday while my WIP languishes) I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend (and writing!).
c.e.
Edited to Add: Ack - I didn't realize the links didn't work. Fixed.
