All your grits belong to Lavern.

She has been licensed to distribute them as she sees fit.

ROAR :D

I saw an episode of Paula Dean (TV cook show) today in which she recommended substituting sausage..."if you don't like bacon".

:Wha:

That woman is clearly insane.

Good luck, Susie!

Good evening, house of funners.

I don't like grits. Here we just serve them to tourists ("It's a southern treat!"). And Lavern.

:hi:

See. I can wave now. Only walking like a half a pretzel. I'm thinking that in a day or so I should be able to straighten all the way up. :D

Talking about Paula Deen, I've seen a few of her shows on the Food Network. Sometimes she uses terms I'm not familiar with but she does have a lovely southern accent.

I enjoy the Barefoot Contessa. Can't think of her name right now but I tried one of her recipes for a salmon salad. It was good. :)

Two of my favorite cooking shows are Cook's Country and America's Test Kitchen (created and hosted by the same people) Sometimes Sara Weeknight Meals and Fast Food My Way with Jacques Pépin can be okay. There is a a pretty good TV show about Mexican cooking with Rick Bayless, but he can get a little carried away at times.

You can find many of these TV shows online.

That would be a "lovely Georgia accent" actually.

If you ever need help with an American term, just ask.

:roll:Georgia? Isn't that south of the Mason-Dixon Line? Or have I got my atlas upside down?

You're a sweetie, AC. I need help with American terms all the time. :)

There are a number of distinct accents in the south (and in the rest of the US). A Georgia accent is quite different from a Texas accent, and a Louisiana accent is quite different from an accent of someone from the Appalachian Mountains, etc.

The phrase southern accent is used here, but it's really a little like saying UK accent, even though they're all native English speakers.

A nitpicking little point, of course.

You have a frosting accent, Susie, from pre-licking all that cake.

I am pie-less!

Almost.

I do have cookies and ice cream (and watermelon) however. I might survive.

I had Yonanas. Have you guys tried this? It's... weird. And messy. But good.

It's hard to type this way.

We're going out for Mexican. It's local dive known for great food and the rudest service in town. I can't wait!

I'll share with everyone!

Had to share with the kids, dog, and husband already, why not everyone else? :)

The only thing it was missing was chocolate. Must get chocolate. I can only get mine in a couple of places, and I've been stuck in the house with a sick kid, unable to get to those places... ::chocolate withdrawal::

And if you don't have yonanas, you can substitute bacon! Or a 20-oz. T-bone.
