I read that as fairy short :)

I need a good fantasy book to read. Something fun and epic. Anyone?

Btw, my housesitter (read- mother) reports she has not seen the goldfinch but she has been watching... Maybe he's enjoying other feeders...

Oooooohhhh....

I don't suppose dark SF features in this anywhere?

It can ;)

and I do want to clarify, that though the ultimate winning story will be published in Shock Totem, the story doesn't have to be horror. Heck this month we ran the gauntlet from SF to fairy tales to horror. So about anything in the speculative fiction genre is completely acceptable.
* some might not find that it would not be a good fit for ST, but where are you going to get 30 or so brief critiques for a flash piece? (most just make general comments from a few sentences to a paragraph or two)
and yes, we all realize that these pieces are just in the draft stage. they all have minor errors and need polishing

Is anybody else getting weird "I took an arrow to the knee" spam on their blogs?

I really frickin' hate gamer jokes. I get the meme part of it... but I don't do that so it is sort of like laughing and then being caught laughing at someone's inside joke. I have enough vices and sedentary habits.

...no? But that's a meme from Skyrim so it might be a joke rather than spam.

Oh, I get the reference, but it's totally spam - probably hoping people think it's a joke. Non-sensical phrases before the reference, followed by bizarre links.

Sheesh, with all this revising and editing going on, it makes me think I should head to the "At Least Open a WIP" cave.

YES BE PRODUCTIVE WEETH US. WE ARE YUR FREEEENDS.

I'm going to start another novel in February. *checks calendar* I'm going to start another novel the first full week of February. Thank goodness for the extra day this year.

I'm not editing my own work, though. It's easier to be ruthless when it's not your prose. (Muhahaha!)

My poor WIP is neglected. Soon, I'll get back to it. But I have a deadline on this manuscript.

Oh. That's weird. Maybe because it's such a common internet phrase at the moment?

Irritating, either way.

*ahem*. Don't know what came over me there...

I'll go slow, but Hillz is right: it must be done.

crap
I need to get WiPping as well. I've done enough procrastinating in the name of "planning" and "research"; now I need to sit down (or in my case, lounge vaguely horizontally) and actually write the thing.

I might be available for word wars later this evening, after I have something to eat. Watch this space.

How many hours a week do you average on editing, amergina? Are you freelance?

Yes, do go slow. Wouldn't want you pulling something.

Haven't seen it. Just words or a picture/vid?

Thanks for the heads up.

Just weird links, none of which I've opened.

The gold finch was uber cute, Fen. I forgot to mention that earlier.

:)

I read the Prestige and it blew my mind - if you saw the movie, you think you know what happens...

but you don't know what happens...

and that would be a fantasy, I think, albeit a Victorian era one.

Hmmm, could be fun. I havent seen the movie.
