Does anyone know where I can get cheap and/or free access to Nielsen Bookscan? The subscription rates for even a few books are exorbitant and my local library does not have access. Thanks.

The only ones with access are those publishers who choose to subscribe, plus a few larger agencies (who generally limit their subscription to the genre they serve.) According to reports I've read, a single genre list costs about $25,000 per year. The full list is something like three quarters of a mill.

Now, RWA does provide access to the Top 100 Romance weekly list as a benefit of membership (with a $50/year subscription fee.) But that's the only organization I know that has any sort of access and it doesn't follow particular books from week to week. It's just the top 100, no matter which books they are.

Sorry. :(
