New Forummer / Writer etc.

Good Evening all (if it's evening where you are).

My name's mad_iguana and I'm an aspiring Fantasy author who's trying desperately to scoop out all of those ideas in his head and put them onto paper.

So far I've written 180,000 of them, and I've almost finished Books 1&2 of my 3-part Fantasy opus.

Unpublished, and certainly inexperienced, I'm just here to soak up the ambience of a community where other folks are as equally insanely committed to the pursuit of a hobby/lifestyle/career that pushes us to leap up in the middle of the night or frantically pull out notepads/laptops or mobile phones on the train to jot down that idea that really has to go into the next chapter or book or whatever.

I have a number of distractions from writing in my life, namely a job, a one-year old child and a 7-month pregnant wife; in order of the amount of my time they occupy.

I hope to have Book 1 in a reasonable shape by the end of April so we'll see how that goes.

D'oh! See what happens when you write stuff down late at night? I now worry for the whole of the story I've written so far! It could end up being unintentionally a surrealist classic!

Yes, I can see how that would be distracting. Your hobby is far better than my husband's was when I was gestating all his children, though - he decided IronMan training would be a good idea :/ I managed, eventually, to persuade him that the training was taking up all his free time and could he please take up a hobby that he could at least do at home

If you could take the "man train" part out of that, he'd be a useful guy to have around...

Thanks all for the kind welcomes. I fully intend to immerse myself in the warm, fuzzy glow of cameraderie before asking anyone to comment on anything I've written, in the hope that I will be better able to accept the criticism and that you will all be nice and gentle to me!
