Good Evening all (if it's evening where you are).

My name's mad_iguana and I'm an aspiring Fantasy author who's trying desperately to scoop out all of those ideas in his head and put them onto paper.

So far I've written 180,000 of them, and I've almost finished Books 1&2 of my 3-part Fantasy opus.

Unpublished, and certainly inexperienced, I'm just here to soak up the ambience of a community where other folks are as equally insanely committed to the pursuit of a hobby/lifestyle/career that pushes us to leap up in the middle of the night or frantically pull out notepads/laptops or mobile phones on the train to jot down that idea that really has to go into the next chapter or book or whatever.

I have a number of distractions from writing in my life, namely a job, a one-year old child and a 7-month pregnant wife; in order of the amount of my time they occupy.

Look forward to sharing lots of fun & info with you all.

I'm a newbie too, but add my welcome to the above.

You've got quite an epic on your hands thus far! :) Can't wait to read it one day. I love fantasy epics.

Me, I have about five novels in my head, one partly on paper now, and none of them are actually about the same subjects. Although all are loosely fantasy/sci fi.

I'm glad to have stumbled on this forum today while researching what it feels like to be shot. :) My characters in one story thread are largely ghosts. So that's fun to research.

Thanks Dandeliondreamer.
Hopefully you'll have the opportunity!
I hope to have Book 1 in a reasonable shape by the end of April so we'll see how that goes.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

180,000 ideas!!!???? :D

Yes, I can see how that would be distracting. Your hobby is far better than my husband's was when I was gestating all his children, though - he decided IronMan training would be a good idea :/ I managed, eventually, to persuade him that the training was taking up all his free time and could he please take up a hobby that he could at least do at home :D

He's got back into drawing, now, which he used to love as a teenager, so we have lovely evenings with me sitting and writing, and him sitting and practising drawing upside down jugs and handbag buckles and other unusual items! And it's something he can do even when he's in charge of the children, so I actuall am getting breaks now!

D'oh! See what happens when you write stuff down late at night? I now worry for the whole of the story I've written so far! It could end up being unintentionally a surrealist classic!

Crikey! Iron man training?! Crikey.
If you could take the "man train" part out of that, he'd be a useful guy to have around...

Thanks all for the kind welcomes. I fully intend to immerse myself in the warm, fuzzy glow of cameraderie before asking anyone to comment on anything I've written, in the hope that I will be better able to accept the criticism and that you will all be nice and gentle to me!
