Sure. I'm still waiting on my RSVP from Keanu. (Who, in the real world, will be at a film festival about four hours away and could literally join us. And me sleeping on the only double bed with an empty half--is that convenient, or what? Can't say I think much of his hat for the Mad Hatter party, though.)

Maryn, who's done one critique, woo-hoo

Don't worry, we will tell you if you are naked. After, say, fifteen minutes.

I have a 'master' packing list of non-clothes stuff that needs to come with me when I travel, but I haven't decided anything on clothes, not even which PJs. I did pick my hat, though.

Maryn, who may bring a spare hat

Sleeping bag? It's none of our business, but don't you let Mr. Groove share your bed?

Maryn, winking

I'm just teasing, of course. If we had one, I might toss it in the car.

When we go anyplace in winter, we carry blankets and pillows and stuff. You don't have to be terribly uncomfortable stuck in the car during a blizzard, if you're prepared. I even carry a couple books and reading lights.

Maryn, who needs to replenish the winter car bag

I've seen your list for stocking up the car in case of emergencies. Imust admit I have not followed through with it even though I think it is a good idea.

Well, where you live the odds of a blizzard are pretty remote, yes? Whereas we have had to sit in the car for five or six hours more than once. Only the first time was bad, though. After that, I was ready.

Maryn, who should be doing critiques

Crits or grading exams...crits or grading exams...crits or grading exams. Crits due Saturday. Graded exams due Wednesday. 6 crits. 89 exams, mostly essay questions. Maybe I'll just go to the gym.

I'll make sure I do a crit after reading a couple of really good exams. The students who don't bother to work for the class really get me steamed.

I have 2 crits done. Or maybe 3. I don't remember. We watched Avatar last night and the complete and utter crapitude of the movie has pretty much erased everything from my mind. Work has been a struggle. I should probably re-do the crits out of fairness to the authors. Also - I'm doing the crits in blue ink. I hope that doesn't cause any hurt feelings or undue hardship to anyone. ;)

Isn't blue the favorite color of the majority of people? It's mine.

Maryn, not as unique as she likes to think

I did one of the crits that I thought might be the hardest, and the one I thought might be the easiest (although I was wrong to think it would be easy). It's like writing a novel--now there's just this vast middle part to deal with, you know?

Maryn, having trouble with one in particular

I'm going to read fizzy's at lunch today. I may have to write down my thoughts while in the car on the way to NY. Not while I am driving, though.

Towel. Blast. I knew there was something missing from the list under the magnet on the fridge.

*is now wondering if her chapters are the ones giving Maryn trouble* Writers are a paranoid bunch...

*wishes she had bought a glittery fuchsia pen specifically to do crits with*

Morning, everybody.

I had a lengthy consultation with The Kid last evening about all sorts of minutiae concerning HOL. She ably assisted me with my hat, made wardrobe suggestions, and may even bake something for our collective enjoyment depending on how her Thursday shapes up. (She's a good baker but rarely indulges because then we have to eat all those yummy calories.) And she loaned me some sheets to fit the bed I'm on, taking small offense that I said I'd launder the cat hair off.

Maryn, not sure she could take a critique in glittery fuchsia ink seriously

good luck. I had a roommate with a cat 6 years ago and I still have cat hair on my old bedspread.

I must confess I have not put that much thought into my clothes, mainly concerning myself with making sure they are clean.

It's pretty cold here, too. We had to turn the heat on last night while we were sleeping because it got down into the 30s, but it's off again. It's supposed to warm back up a bit, so I'm hoping to be able to leave it off.

It could change, of course, but the forecast for Penn Yan is mid-60s and sunny for Friday, lower 50s and partly cloudy for Saturday. I think I need warmer stuff.

Although alcohol helps...

Maryn, up-front about the fact that she will imbibe

Yay - a fellow imbiber!! :) I find that a little black tea with a little milk and a little whiskey is excellent at keeping away the chill. Quite delicious, I must say.

Sounds like it should be just about perfect for the firepit that's listed in the amenities for Lakecrest. Maryn, do you know if that's an accurate list? A firepit would be fantastic.

Grr, who's going to add the makings for S'mores onto her packing list if the firepit is a reality.
