Somewhere in my mind... it echoes in here ...
Hi Q, and welcome to AW, Though I used to read some of Stephen King's early material, he lost my interest. In his own words he said he'd written garbage and still published but that was after his success. However, one of his books I still consult at times is Stephen King on Writing. One of the things he says in there is, "Two things a writer must do, read a lot and write a lot. There are no shortcuts to these two." So read, read, read, and it won't hurt to pick up some books on writing to help with the mechanics. Strunk & White's - The Elements of Style - is a good one to add to your library; it's not a big book but has a lot of basic writing wisdom. There are a lot more, but putting together the basic tools necessary to write goodly is a must. The main thing is while doing both have fun. Writing is work but also a joy. So enjoy and read the threads around here; lots of good stuff - go mining for gold.
