If we get people in office who are willing to say the way to actually lock up the actually dangerous people is to deal with the fact that not everyone ever charged with a sex offense is perpetually a danger who must be locked up or executed, we might be able to get someplace - other countries have.
They have? Shall we investigate again the recent story of a woman gang raped in Sudan and convicted of adultery for it? Or all those stories of an active rape culture in Eurasia?
Maybe, but I'm far from sure about that "getting someplace."
Also, just for the record, while I called this shining example of the manly persuasion a poster boy for life sentences, I did not actually call for it. It was meant as a reference to the kind of anger guys like this (and no, I don't much care what psychological diagnosis he fits under) engenders among the general populace. On that, I say rightly so.
