I believe children's books and YA/middle-grade are two separate things.

Though it's also correct that if you submitted a YA or middle-grade work, Eddie is the one who would be handling it.

Help! I sent him my query a week ago and included an SASE but didn't really know how the whole international stampage thing worked, so I stamped the SASE with a stamp that I thought was a US one, but really it's just a stamp that Canadians can use to send stuff TO the US.

I included my email address on the query but I'm worried that they might try to mail the response within the SASE and then it won't get to me. Do you think I should send an email to them asking for a response via email or should I trust that given the fact that my email address is on the query itself, they'll just use that to respond because it's easier?

Good news (partial + full requests) tends to come by e-mail, bad news by your SASE - do you really want it back?

Not always...

Eddie requests partials & fulls by snail smail in your SASE. I had 2 requests from him that way last year.

Re-send and explain what happened.
That's what I'd do.

I agree. It's also important to note that a letter from the US to Canada requires seventy-five cents (USD) in postage.

I queried Eddie by snail mail (query + synopsis) sent on 2/22/10.
Received rejection: 3/8/10.

It was a well-written form eject, though :)

Was about to query them, but just saw in their page that they are not accepting any queries at the moment and to check back in june.

June starts tomorrow hmmm.... well I bet it just means check back sometime in june, but still, I find that funny.

There's now a note on the agency website that says:

**WE ARE OPEN TO QUERIES UNTIL JULY 31, 2010. NO EMAIL QUERIES, PLEASE.**

(And I'm off to print out my query...)

Yay! Request for a partial from Joshua. I'll let you know how it goes.

ETA: I'm not too sanguine, though, for reasons I will post when I hear back from them.

I queried Joshua, who requested my stuff, but the rejection came from Eddie Schneider. I seldom get my hopes up when agents request my materials because, despite my making it crystal clear in my query, they usually don't realize it's a graphic novel until they get the partial. Then, it's "I don't handle graphic novels."

But in Eddie's case, he says he simply wasn't sufficiently excited.

Did anyone get requests when they were open to queries in July? I got a request for a partial. Not sure how long to expect to wait to hear from them.
