Thanks for the answer.
I find it rather worrisome that you have to sign an NDA about what they pay. I liked the old system where they said up front what people could expect to earn for X amount of work. Even a range would have been nice to know. Ah well.

I'd hate to go through the trouble of applying, just to find out it was $5 an article or something. Heh. :)

When you consider that not every contract is the same, it makes a lot of sense that they don't want writers talking about their contracts.

Your pay also depends a lot on how much work you put into your site.

Does anyone know if it's acceptable/worthwhile contacting About.com before a particular topic becomes officially available? I have been 'stalking' my favourite topic for a while and recently noticed the relevant expert has left but, as yet, the topic is not showing up as one of the available ones.
