I'm neither a mod nor a monkey, but there's a thread here where Mac explains the change. :)

Question

Do I still count as a newbie? :D

Wait, wait, that's not my question. ;)

Is there anyplace appropriate here on the Water Cooler where I could post a cover letter for a job to be critiqued? I'm not so good with the technical/businesslike writing and I'd love to get some feedback before I take this off to my potential employer.

Hey, I was just wondering am I allowed to post the first 1,500 words or so of my Novel for critique on here, and if so where?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, is it okay for me to post the first few chapters of my Novel just to get some general critique here, and if so whereabouts, I've looked but I'm not so sure?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not a mod, but if you go the Share Your Work section (password: vista ) and find your genre it should be fine to post it there. Be sure to specify if you want a hard or gentle critique, and don't shout at people if they say they don't like it. ;)

If you need some feedback on your writing, you can post some in our Share Your Work forum (the password is vista). The critiques can be harsh sometimes ... but honest, so prepare yourself for that. Everyone means well, though. Their goal is to get you the best novel/story/article possible and to get it published. You could also critique some of the other members' work too. It is surprising how that can help with you own.

Check out the how-to guide threads in Main Share Your Work sub-forum, then post your material in one of the genre sub-forums.

Hmmmm.... I have a question.

I don't know if Poetinahat really lives in a hat or not, but I do wonder if dpaterso wears a kilt to bed ...

Anybody know?

Depends on the occasion. If formal dress is requested by the lady, then yes. Although I leave the sporran on the bedside table to avoid chaffing.

I get two or three requests a week for a nonfiction proposal (I have a few killers) and I was wondering if I could sub one to a mod for a sticky in the non fic memoir sexction. Could someone let me know?

I'm chronicling it as I write the one I'm writing, so I think it could be very helpful

Yeah just post it there and I'll make it a sticky, is no problem.

PS - would probably have been more efficient if you'd just PM'd the forum mod. :)

I have no idea who it is, but my real concern is formatting. I don't know how to keep everything together when I transfer it over.,. Yanno?

Oh, and I'm old and stupid, so explaining it won't help.

I don't even know the simplest computer jargon.

I 'can' write a proposal though, I'll tell ya

Heh. If you haven't already, check out the "Reformatting text for posting" section in the announcement visible from all SYW sub-forums. Especially the suggestion from Ken.

I should probably read the newbie guide too, but honestly, I'm that computer lingo challenged. Except what you guys have taught me, I don't know what any of it means.

Someone volunteered to edit and format it fer me, so I'm going to send it to her.

Found the right mod too.

Thanks

Yep, Wayne, you should so read the Newbie Guide. :D

With finding out the forum mods, there are 3 ways.

1) On the Main AW page to the right of each forum the forum mods are listed.
2) Inside the forum, at the bottom to the right, the forum mods are listed.
3) The 'View Forum Leaders' Page which is at the bottom of the main AW Page (above the 'What's going on' 'Currently Active Members bit)

Part of it is your avatar. You'll notice your posts are just as big as your avatar + personal info is. If you had chosen a smaller avatar, you wouldn't have such lengthy posts.

The other thing is that you have no signature, as many of us do. Siggys help fill that empty space.

Hope this helps. :)
