“Buen dia. Yo quiero saber si mi amigo americano Señor Connors se ya esta registrado.”
“Momentito, señor.” I could hear the clicking of computer keys.
“Si. Ayer. ¿Quiere estar connectado a su cuarto?”
“No, vamos a verse mañana. Gracias.”

Y mas tarde:

"Eso es lo que pasa quando habla español.” That’s what you get for Speaking Spanish.
“Claro,” I say.

Hola todos! Yo tambien hablo espanol. Desafortunadamente, no se como usar mi computadora para escribir en Espanol. Por eso, no puedo usar accentos o tildes. Ohala que esto no sea problema!

I'm not sure if in that last bit you're trying to say "that's what you get for speaking Spanish" as in actually doing it or having the ability to speak Spanish.

Also, I'm not quite sure where this takes place. ¿Mexico? ¿Colombia? ¿Venezuela?

The next morning, suspicion starts to creep back in. Was Connors telling the truth? Just to be on the safe side, I call the hotel in Bogotá. My college Spanish serves me well.

"Hotel de la Ópera, ¿en qué puedo ayudarlo?"

"Buenos días, quiero saber si un amigo americano, el señor Connors, ya se registró."

"Un momentito, señor." I could hear the clicking of computer keys.

"Sí, ayer. ¿Quiere que lo comunique a su habitación?"

“No, lo veré mañana. Gracias.”

I hang up having confirmed that Connors is indeed registered at the hotel. Either that’s his real name, or it is a name that he is traveling under.
