Here's something that should interest you:

A new, $50,000 prize aims to shine a light on English-language poets around the globe.

Organizers of the Montreal International Poetry Prize have enlisted former British poet laureate Andrew Motion to judge the inaugural edition of the Canadian-based competition.

Established through an anonymous donation, the Montreal Prize is designed to draw attention to poetry, with organizers "committed to encouraging the creation of original works of poetry, to building cross-national readership and to exploring the world's Englishes."

I'll be running a feature about it on the AW blog, as soon as I have more information, too.

Wow.

Worth noting their definition of "published". Which looks like it would, technically, apply to anything on the boards here.

Also note the two deadlines, and that the entry fee is lower if you enter by April 22 - lower still if you're entering from a developing nation. Neat.

too morose..... meaning blood and death? or trials and tribulations of the heart that do not end well??

if you post them here, the poetry crit is password protected (the logic being not publically published) so that shouldn't matter.
