Tori is my #1 artist. I have all her albums.

My top three are Scarlet's Walk, From the Choirgirl Hotel, and Boys for Pele.

She's awesome! :)

I know virtually nothing about Tori Amos. I can say though, that her cover version of 'I Don't Like Mondays' was an interesting take on the original.

Perhaps I should check out some of her other stuff.

I like a lot of her music, though not all of it. But I'm even more impressed by her as a person, particularly all that she's done against rape and sexual assault.

Also, anyone who's such good pals with Neil Gaiman must be pretty darn cool.

Me too. I can't listen to her song "Me and a Gun" anymore.

Amen to that. :D

I love Tori too. *points to username* :D Boys For Pele, From The Choirgirl Hotel, and Scarlet's Walk are my favorite 3 CDs of hers. They make very good writing music, I've found.

I really enjoy her music, her voice. The only album I have is To Venus and Back and I love it, listen to it all the time. I really should get more, but I have had this one for years and don't buy many CD's anymore. I have a friend though that is obsessed with her (in a good way) goest to all her concerts in NY (where he lives) and has met her several times. He has so many pics of the two of them together, it is cute.

Never knew she was friends with Neil Gaiman, that is kinda cool.

She wrote the foreword for one of his Sandman books (don't remember which one though) and Delirium always reminds me of her, don't know if that's on purpose or not, but it works.

From her song Tear in Your Hand:

"If you need me, me and Neil'll be
hangin' out with the Dream King.
Neil says hi by the way."

Tales of a Librarian album. Silent All These Years. Old School Tori. Awesome. Her newer music isn't for me all the time (I have to be in the mood... no, not that mood), but I do adore her talent and listen to her often.

Much disliked Boys for Pele. Much liked Songs from the Choirgirl Hotel. Have no earthly idea what she's wailing about. Maybe one of these days I'll pay attention.

I just noticed this was my 666th post, and about Tori Amos, no less. Surely that's got to mean something...

Huge fan up through Scarlett's Walk (minus Strange Little Girls). Not so much after that, although I've tried.

I really want to get into her music, because she is the exact type of songwriter I like. But so far, the only song I actually like is her cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit". That, and "Welcome to England".

I actually first heard of her because one of my favorite bands, Evans Blue, did a cover of "Caught A Lite Sneeze".

you martyr and shine.
I loved Under The Pink, own but never got into Boys For Pele. She was at Bonnaroo this year but was scheduled opposite Tenacious D. I chose Tenacious D--no regrets there, they were the bomb.

Sorry, Tori.

(Bonnaroo is a long weekend of Sophie's choices like these.)

Me too. I can't listen to her song "Me and a Gun" anymore.

I couldn't listen to it after the third time! ;)

But dearly loved the entire first album, and bits and pieces here and there afterwards. Some of her covers are just wonderful! (Smells like teen spirit, I Don't like Mondays, The Cures Lovesong, NIN's Hurt, Tiny Dancer, Losing My Religion)

My only problem with Tori is that I can't watch her perform.
I've tried, but I'm fairly certain that what she can do to a piano stool is illegal in some states... but hey, that's me.

Now... if only Natalie Merchant would just record anything, I don't care what. I'd love to listen to her record half the covers Tori has, anything at all Damn it! (Me & Bobby McGee in particular) Two great women's voices!

I liked it when she collaborated with BT on the song Blue Skies on his album Ima. It was made in 1995 and it's still a fresh sound.

A friend introduced me to her a couple of years ago. "Winter" quickly became one of my favorite songs, by anyone.

I like her older songs--it's been tough trying to get into the newer albums.
