I am an avid music fan, singer, and lyricist - and one of my favorite genres happens to be Christian Rock. Sadly, I think it's also a very underrated genre, mostly stemming from the stigma of being labeled "Christian".
There's an annuel music festival up here in the northeast (USA) called SoulFest, and usually the third day is the rock day - though sometimes it's mixed up - and man, these bands can really let it out. The combination of hard rifts and uplifting lyrics is what originally attracted me to the style of music a few years ago, stumbling upon bands like RED, 12 Stones, Day of Fire, and Decyfer Down.
XM radio used to do a Monday (I think) night Christian Rock special on Squizz/Octane with a lady DJ, but I'm not sure if they still do.
So ya, any other fans of the genre? Suggestions for new bands / songs / festivals to check out?
There's a local (CT) band named Torndown that's very good live; heavy electric stuff, but they also released a mellow acoustic EP (4 songs, only 1 I didn't like - overtly religious). I'd recommend checking them out along with RED's newest CD.
