I am an avid music fan, singer, and lyricist - and one of my favorite genres happens to be Christian Rock. Sadly, I think it's also a very underrated genre, mostly stemming from the stigma of being labeled "Christian".

There's an annuel music festival up here in the northeast (USA) called SoulFest, and usually the third day is the rock day - though sometimes it's mixed up - and man, these bands can really let it out. The combination of hard rifts and uplifting lyrics is what originally attracted me to the style of music a few years ago, stumbling upon bands like RED, 12 Stones, Day of Fire, and Decyfer Down.

XM radio used to do a Monday (I think) night Christian Rock special on Squizz/Octane with a lady DJ, but I'm not sure if they still do.

So ya, any other fans of the genre? Suggestions for new bands / songs / festivals to check out?

There's a local (CT) band named Torndown that's very good live; heavy electric stuff, but they also released a mellow acoustic EP (4 songs, only 1 I didn't like - overtly religious). I'd recommend checking them out along with RED's newest CD.

I've dabbled in Christian music... mostly from having friends listen to it around me. I like Phil Whickam, not sure if he's "rock" but he visited my church recently and was pretty good.

I've heard his songs You're Beautiful and I Adore You, loved both of them. Sometimes his voice reminds of the singer from Keane, but I like his style better.

The band that I love, As I Lay Dying recentely said that they were Christians themselves but were not a Christian band. Though when you hear much of their lyrics, it all screams to me that it's Christian based. Also Demon Hunter, they're pretty good. I actually listened to Lamb of God thinking they were a Christian band, only to find out just how wrong I was, they are still my favorite metal band though.

Oh and I can't believe I forgot to mention Brian Head Welch, it's more rock than metal, but without a doubt he is the man, best guitarist I've ever heard (that's still alive and playing), Jimmy Page will always be number one of all time.

All also great! Fireflight is one of my favorites actually and I have yet to see them live. I watched Flyleaf perform a little less than a year ago, and though they opened they put on a great show. The singer is so quirky, rocking out in a pink dress - I loved it haha.

I'm a Skillet and Underoath person. :D

I haven't listened to Underoath in a long time, I think almost three or four years, back when they played during the day at Ozzfest. Time to dig out those old cds.

I got the chance to see As I Lay Dying play at a pub at Myrtle Beach with my father, about two years ago. With each of their releases I think I love them more, one of my favorite songs by them is Forsaken. Whenever I hear that intro my neck hairs stand up. They also played at Soulfest, which is surprising since they said they were not a Christian band (it's that Christian music festival I was talking about).

I have not heard of Demon Hunter, I will have to check them out!
