To answer Crasterbabies about the Hound...

NO...

Why? >>> Because someone other than a Stark has to really be dead... If Martin brings the Hound back, I will be pissed. Not that I don't like the Hound, but because its too convenient to just keep bringing characters back once you start... Especially if he does not bring Jon back... <<<

In answer to Thoth... >>>>Well, the Hound never "died" on the page. Arya left him and SHE thought he was done. But, was he? Check out this link at the end (where it says "Feast for Crows"): Spoiler Link here

It's definitely a popular theory. :)

regarding Jon -- he died while Melisandre was looking on. She can ressurect the dead. So I'm hoping she does for our dear Jon Snow because he has to get better and marry Dani who is a relative of some sort because they're both Targaryen's :D In theory . . .

Jamies, I agree with all sentiments, but where Melisandre is concerned....

<<<< I worry because all the characters we've seen "resurrected" including Catelyn and possibly the Mountain, haven't been the same at all. My hope is that Jon will warg into Ghost (else why would we have the prologue we did for Dance with Dragons?) and that the red witch will find a way to get things done w/o turning Jon's brain to scrambled eggs.

If you reread the chapter where Jon gets stabbed, you see a lot of the Azor A'hai (sp?) prophecy going on. The salty tears. The steam rising everywhere. Martin is very deliberate in his choice of words here. I think Melisandre knows he's the true Azor A'hai (not Stannis) and that she will step in to save him.

Per Dany's visions at the House of the Undying, the blue flower must bloom at the wall. Let us hope it does....

Tick...tick...tick, 1 hour to the final episode of season two...sniff, sniff.

HBO started showing the first 9 episodes of season two today starting at 12 noon. In between chores, I got to re-watch some of them. Here's a few observations...

The red comet was only showed in the 1st episode of season two.

Tyrion's mountain clans came to Kings landing with him, but after a few episodes, they sort of disappeared.

I must have missed part of the episode where Tyrion found out that it was Joffrey who gave the order for the killing of the bastards. I thought it was Cercie. This makes me believe more than ever that it was also Joffrey who gave the order for ser Moore to kill Tyrion at the battle of the Blackwater. Of course, they will say ser Moore acted on his own because of all the insults he suffered from Tyrion.

So there are a few of my observations...

A longer wait for me. 2 hours approximately.

Very excited.

And yes, the red comet. Where did it go? I hope they show it again to come full circle. And you're right. Tyrion's barbarians . . . they've kind of fallen to the wayside.

I imagine there's a separate thread regarding the books, in an appropriate subforum?

Glad to see Tyrion survived. That scar's not so bad. Damn, Peter Dinklage can do a lot with his face. Tyrion's grown up to be hard as nails, and sarcastic and cleverer than everybody, when faced with insults, disdain, and disrespect. Now he's got a woman who loves him, and it breaks through all his defenses.

The injury to Tyrion was far worse in the book and I am glad HBO didn't go that far...

Tonight's episode set up so many things for Season three.

Joffrey and Margery, Jon and Ygrette, Littlefinger and Sansa, Bran heading to the wall, Arya and her coin, Bree and Jaimi, Stannis and Melisandre, and of course, the introduction of Mance Raydor...

About tonight's episode, I enjoyed Dani in the House of the Undying more so than the books version.

Lastly, we got to see true White Walkers. I suspected all along the White Walkers were not the Zombie characters, but controlled them. I wonder why they left Sam alone? Perhaps because they could sense the Dragon Glass he was carrying?

So much to tonight's episode that I am still digesting and trying to figure where Martin is going to go...

Already stated that there is a non-book thread out there if you want to read that. Or, you could keep making comments like this. This has pretty much been a book/HBO series thread from the start, though we do respect people who haven't read the books by making people highlight text to read it and announcing spoilers.

Okay Thoth! Finished. I have mixed feelings about the episode, but overall, I enjoyed it.

"Iffy Things"

The House of the Undying. That completely fell flat for me. I'm on the other side of this in that I enjoyed the book version far better. I have read that chapter multiple times, mostly trying to figure out the prophecy clues. I liked how they handled some of it--the temptations for Dany to leave her path by showing her the Iron Throne, then Khal Drogo and their child that might have been. God, I miss Jason Momoa.

In the books.... (SPOILER )))) >>> Dany goes past so many rooms that show prophecy/things that might be, like the king upon a throne with a wolf's head, looking out over a bloody "feast." We know what that represents. The blue flower blooming at the wall. They even show a scene where Rhaegar names his son, Aegon (who we meet later in Dance with Dragons). Then the wizards speak of her three treasons, three loves, etc.. I guess the book version had more of an impact, especially when Dany is being consumed by the dead wizard's council and Drogon wakes her from her trance and begins setting stuff on fire. And, the biggest thing, didn't she friggin destroy the entire place at the end?>>>>>>

BUT, I don't want to harp too much on how the books were better on this. I just wanted a tad bit more overall. I do like seeing the dragons. I wish we could get more CGI but I'll take whatever at this point!

Oh, btw, do people who haven't read the books even know what the dragons' names are?

the black one is Drogon (named after Drogo)
the green one is Rhaegal (after her older brother who died)
and the other is Viserion (named after her brother in hopes that it could be what her brother was not)

Did I get those right?

I agree with Thoth in that the episode set things up nicely for season 3, but the books kind of go that way . . . setting things up for the next.

The white walkers were creepy. Coldhands, not really how I pictured him, but still creepy (if that was Coldhands). The fact that the one spared Sam shows marked intelligence, at least with that particular one. It makes the whole question of undead "types" and "hierarchy" even more interesting.

Sansa unable to contain her delight (after Joff agreed to marry Margaery) was pretty damn funny. I can't wait to see Margaery "play" court next season. She was very cunning in the few scenes we saw. And how about that semi-boobage? They must have some revealing styles in Highgarden.

I too am glad that they did not go "all out" on Tyrion's facial issues. I got so sick of... <<<< reading about him playing with the "nub" that used to be his nose, or itching it... ugh, I never liked that Martin did that to Tyrion. I didn't think he had to go that far, but ahh well.... >>>>>

I love seeing Tyrion and Varys together, talking. It makes me giddy!

<<<< And considering that Varys is reportedly still working for House Targaryen as we see in Dance with Dragon's epilogue, it makes me wonder even more if Tyrion is a Targaryen and that's why Varys has always helped him and taken a "shine" to him. >>>>

Arya and Jaqen, awesome! Loved how he changed his face. Creeeeeeeepy. I will miss that actor, though. He's haaawwwt.

I could say more, but time for bed. And want to give Thoth a chance to post more too. :D

The first season I liked, though not as much as a lot of other people. I just watched the S2 finale, and realised it's now one of my favourite shows. I really want to read the books but don't know when I'll actually get around to it with so many other books in my TBR pile.

I too missed the fact that the viewers did not get to see Dani's three prophecies or get to see Dani and her dragons destroy the whole place. I suspect HBO was a bit pressed for time in trying to get enough in the last episode. This is why I keep harping that 10 episodes is not enough time to fully do justice to this series.

As to Margery, she is someone who will give Cercie some competition. Margery is no little dove and if HBO stays true, this actress will be around for the next four seasons at least, though I doubt we'll get any more booby shots of her.

And speaking of boobies, while the Kings Landing strip may not be all that realistic for that time period, me likes the fact the boobies are natural and not the enhanced types many shows - show.

Moving on from the boobies, I can not wait to see the Giants, Mammoths, and all the other creatures beyond the wall. I loved the ice spear Coldhands carried, if that was truly him, and how ice mist was flowing off his body. Reminded me of dry ice...

I was disappointed with the Stannis / Melissandre scene. While Melissandre gets Stannis to look into the fire, it does not give the viewer a hint of what is to come for Stannis storyline other than he will still be around.

For those who have not read the books, don't worry too much about Tyrion. He is not done yet. Martin has a lot of use for Tyrion still to come, though it is not always pleasant...

I stayed away from the books when they first came out. Then after watching the 1st season of AGOT, I was hooked and wanted to know the story. I bought all the books and read them in like a three month time period. No regrets because they are mostly very well written and the story is exciting.

The other books will be there when you finish...:poke:

I was also disappointed that we did not see what Stannis saw in the flames. It could simply be that Melisandre is making him see what she wants/needs him to see. I do like her, a lot!

Now that this season is over, we can speculate on what characters they'll bring into season 3. We know the Reeds are being cast which is good. And we have to wait about Mance, the King Beyond the Wall (plus his queen).

I imagine they'll need to cast some Tullys. Catelyn's father and brothers. And some ironborn, Victarion and such, though maybe they won't go too far with that. I don't know. Ramsay Bolton too (Roose's bastard who burnt Winterfell), or maybe they'll wait on that until season 4.

A lot of new faces, but they go along with respective POV characters.

Another downer . . . Varys talking to Ros and telling her that they could partner up. Here I thought we'd seen the end of Ros. (sigh)

Also, I really like the actress who plays Shae. I read that she used to be a porn star and people were getting in a tissy over that (thinking she couldn't really act), but she's done a splendid job, imho.

In my head.
This is not fair. IT JUST CAME BACK two months ago!!! TV seasons are WAY too short these days. Now I have to wait a full year for the next season? Humbug.

But Brienne... oh, Brienne... she kicks so much ass. (sigh, swoon)

I've really warmed up to her. These last couple of episodes it's seemed like Shae has real feelings for Tyrion.

Margaery Tyrell is played by Natalie Dormer, who was an enchanting Anne Boleyn in the Showtime series The Tudors.

So I'm sure you'll be able to see a lot more of her boobies. HBO isn't going to pass up on the opportunity to exploit Natalie Dormer's boobs any more than Showtime didn't.

Unimportant details aside--this was probably my favorite GoT episode yet, despite the departures from the books in places that I thought were fairly gratuitous and despite the fact that there were so many threads to put in place for next season that even the extended episode felt rushed and incomplete. BUT, I am really looking forward to a few scenes from next season that should be a lot of fun--Joffrey and Margaery's wedding, of course; that OTHER wedding; Sansa and Littlefinger and the Eyrie; and lots of "You know nothing, Jon Snow." paired with Dany's rise to power.

Next season, it most definitely will NOT be good to be the king.
