Nice lines, everyone!

Just to prove my MS isn't so doom and gloom, I thought I'd post this bit. The end of an undercover op.

“Tell me, Ms. Campbell, what do you think of cats?”

“I’m sorry. Cats? You mean, kitty cats?” God, I hoped he meant kitty cats.

“Mr. Mistoffelees.”

“Oh.”

So this was it. The culmination of six months of work and the success or failure of this operation, not to mention whether Sam and I lived to see another dawn, hinged on my personal opinion of an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. Oh, f*** me.

You know, I must have psychically predicted your quote for the day. I've been singing Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer song in my head all day for no good reason. :tongue

My lines:

I see the world like a vessel of static, its electricity connecting souls. There’s friction. There’s energy and noise, a force that hums, pulsing, drawing us together. Then in the midst of it all there are ghosts, some dead, some alive, but we’re all a part of that energized matter. We all contribute to the white noise. And we are ghosts because we’re there, and then we can so effortlessly disappear.

Great scene! lol! I know I'd be screwed... I've never seen that musical.

Canada--not the part covered in ice.
My turn:

“Why do you think he’s not alone? He looks alone to me.”

“Because Jet doesn’t go nowhere without Jesse. I don’t think he’s ever been alone, less you count the times he’s with a girl.”

Wonderful, guys! :)

Me from yesterday :)eek: language alert!):

He raised his hands in defense. "Hey, man, you know the meek will inherit the earth."

I balled my fist. "Yeah, well, until then it's all mine, motherf***er."

This is from when the bad guys decide my lead needs a beating. They caught him coming home from a jog.

He put his hand on the butt of his gun and said, “I’m sure you would. I, however, would prefer not to stay here where we are so conspicuous. Let’s take a little walk.”

“A walk sounds good,” I lied, wondering if my knees would stop shaking enough for me to move without falling over. “How about I meet you at the park?”

"Stop being a shithead, shithead, and come with us,” said Escort, all kindness leaving his eyes and scaring the spit out of me. Keith rattled the chain a little, and the third guy came up on me, took my elbow in a martial arts pinch, and walked me down the stairs. With the third guy in front, Escort behind and the biker in the street, we went over to my house. I noticed they’d bought the truck from my friend Ed Green.

Welcome to nathanrudy and Dix. The more the merrier! :D

Some great lines here! You gotta love this thread! Talent abounds!

This is from my current WIP, which lately has been whipping my butt. Finally broke out and got some words today. :hooray:

Kelli is at Rikers to question the man who shot her partner, (no, he isn't dead, only wounded.). While she is waiting for him, a guard runs up and tells her the man has been shanked(?)/shived(?) Either is good, I think. She is taken to the guy in the infimary and he tells her something before he dies. (Go to M/T/S SYW to find out.:D)

Kelli stepped back and the doctor moved in. He checked Raul, looked back at Kelli and Wilmont, shook his head and frowned.

Wilmont tapped her shoulder but she didn’t acknowledge him. This can’t be right. The guys that killed Bill and Sherry were professionals, hired guns. This guy is a nothing, a street punk. She felt Wilmont tap her shoulder again and she turned. “What?”

Wilmont flinched and tried to compose himself. “I want to know what he said to you. As his attorney…”

“You were his attorney, Wilmont. In case you didn’t notice, your client is dead. Why don’t you go and find another shit bag to represent,” she said as she turned and walked out of the infirmary.

Okay, dipping my toe in here.

The scene begins with Kevin talking to his brother. My MC interrupts. MC and Kevin do not like one another.

"You're a fool," Kevin said, voice low, harsh.

"You've only got him for a week or two," I said. "Maybe you want to try for familial bonding instead of showing him what an ass you've turned into. He is your older brother. Let him guide you in the ways of the world."

"So I can grow up to be incarcerated just like him? No, thanks." He brushed past me with a hard shoulder and headed down the hall toward the bathroom.

Our school was old when it was new. It just looked terrible, with pale "seafoam green" paint chipping off the walls, and a blocky, uninspired architecture. It was sturdy as hell, though. I remembered spending an ice storm in the gym, with people wrapped in blankets and men going out into the weather to try to help clear fallen trees. My dad spent the entire night out in the storm. When he came back, he picked me up in his arms. I remembered his face felt like a sheet of ice and his beard itched when I kissed him. He was my hero.

Great lines all. I love this thread, as not having a great line to share reminds me that I need to get fingers onto keys and start writing something! (Now that kitty is on the mend)
