Ali, that is gorgeous.

Thank you, you're very kind. I'd be interested to see other peoples interpretations of Shaun's idea.

And if anyone else has a monster idea for a monster I'd be happy to put pencil to paper for you.

Morning hounds :sword

So after several days of feeling[SUB] low[/SUB], i feel a bit better this morning. Let's hope that continues.

You're very welcome. Wish I drew, I'd draw monsters. I can draw, it's just not a talent of mine.

Glad to hear you're feeling better ali. Feeling that low really isn't pleasant in the least bit. Been going through my own low periode, punctuated with lots of irritation as seasoning. Blargh! I just want it to be over.

Morning morning! No rogue snowball attacks this morning, so that's good. Also writing, and that's good, too.

I've made a decision about the Cockney rhyming slang thing we were talking about the other day. Now that I've got a better handle on the character, I've decided he's taking the piss, to borrow your phrase. He drags out the really heavy slang to try and get a rise out of the American chick he's talking to. When she responds in kind (she's been living in 1939 London's East End for over a year, she's bound to have heard some of it, especially considering some of the company she keeps), he laughs and starts talking more normally.

How does that sound, Ali?

That would actually sound much more normal. :D

It fits with his character. He's a petty criminal -- think Dean Winchester at his most Dean-ish -- and he's supposed to be a touch of light comedy in an otherwise pretty heavy story.

Okay, not quite Dean Winchester. More like a cross between Dean Winchester and every character Nick Frost ever played.

Me, too. My muse has been like a pit bull, snapping at my heels to go faster faster faster! I don't get it, it's not that profound a story. Just adventure, nazis, undead hordes, dark magic, guns, pretty girls. Typical New Pulp, certainly not Deathless Prose.

I can't wait to read it when you're done.

Katherine stalked my victim without her knowing. Now my victims a bit afraid. Poor, poor Valleria. There was a murder recently to, of course Katherin is the one who killed the woman, but no-one but me and Katherine knows that.

But you are having fun with it. I think that counts for more than you think. ;)

That sounds intriguingly dark, Lillith. Much cooler than the relatively lightweight stuff I write.

okay, Ali, you're close at hand, so I'll ask another one:

During WWII, during the Blitz, there were people assigned/appointed/drafted, to kind of patrol a neighborhood, to check that the blackout was being obeyed. Also, during an actual bombing, they were out and about, making sure nobody got left behind, calling in fires and such, reporting damage to superiors, making sure there was no looting, etc. Generally they were from that neighborhood.

In the States, we would have called them Civil Defense or something similar. Were they called Civil Defense in the UK? I keep thinking it's Home Guard, like that Dad's Army thing, but I was more under the impression they were more like our National Guard, a sort of ad hoc militia.

What is the right term?

I think you mean ARP Wardens which are part of the Dads Army/ Home Guard.
ARP = Air Raid Precaution

Now, I only work by trading you know, so now you have to give me an opinion on my monster.

Oh, and you pronounce the letters separately: A-R-P, not as one word. Just FYI.

Thanks!

Oh, we're playing "quid pro quo," huh? Are you Hannibal or Clarice? :D

I saw it yesterday, and it creeped me right the heck out. It immediately made me think of the bane creatures in my surreal ideas notebook. I don't know how big your critter is, but I see him as about the size of six month old baby, battening down on somebody's back and slowly consuming him alive.

Yikes!

Why thank you, I'm glad you think so. I'm with shadow on this one though. All that matters is you enjoying what you're writing. Katherine gets her true debute scene soonish. It's only a few hundred words in, so she's just been having fun scaring Valleria my main POV character.

Wrested control of my old blog back from the Viagra and whatnot spammers this morning and issued a smackdown to one of the Fire On The Suns GMs and players regarding violation of my copyrights (he'd issued a blanket invite for some kind of "grand archive" where all kids of things such as rules, rules suggestions, stories, ideas, race designs, programming code, etc. could be gathered and be publically available). In that much of the material could be marketable and I that my copyright for FOTS specifically states that you can't use or distribute anything related to the FOTS Universe in any fashion without my express written permission, and in that he was proposing to do it on Yahoo or FB or somewhere else, I just said, "No, you will NOT. You can submit it through me and I'll decide, but you won't do it where some massive corporation's EULA can say "That belongs to us" if they want to.

Eeeesh. Hope all that gets resolved soon and that person comes to their senses. Your world your product. Only you can decide what happens. :(

Morning, Ali. Morning, Hounds. I've been up for a couple hours now, reading the news. Reading the news is a mistake, every time; it's so frustrating! But I can't seem to stop myself.

But, with that done and dusted, I can finally move on to writing. Okay, and pining over the fact that I made an enormous fruit crumble as part of dinner last night, and it's ALL GONE! Every last bite! No sneaking a bowl of sinful cherry-pineapple goodness after breakfast!

Sigh. With that treat gone, I only have my words to comfort me until the day gets warmer.

I'm not getting much writing done. Anxious over more pressing real-world concerns at the moment and waiting to see what the beta readers think of my most recent work. Should know by tomorrow sometime.

I try to never watch the news. It causes depression.

I try to avoid the news as well. I always check my local news, but after that I figure someone will tell me if the world has ended.

:Hug2: for Shaun and Ted. I hope things work out for you Shaun.

Sometimes, life hands you an absolute howler.

I have just received an email from Writers Digest informing me that:
Your November/December Issue is here!

Click Here! to download your copy.

It is in reality the May/ June edition. Oops. :D
