It's true that if you get to the end of that paragraph and hit Enter, the next paragraph will have the same definition, and so on. But there are a zillion different things that can cause the definition to revert to its formal definition. (Word is wonky this way.)

Word is very strange sometimes. There's even a setting that will pick up style changes and apply it to the paragraph format, making all previous paragraphs change, too... not easy to figure out what really happened from the distance.

Yes. Word 2007 is definitely a hot mess. I've been using it for over a year and it STILL puzzles me from time to time.
