Heh, I default to "7". Can't remember much of it, but finished it? 7. I'm not really taking it seriously.

There's a compatibility feature between users. I have yet to figure out how they calculate it. I'm sure number of shows you have in common is relevant, and so is rating, but some results are a bit puzzling that way. The two of us have about 75 % compatibility. If "sciencewarrior" on there is the one who posted in this thread, that's the highest compatibility I found so far. > 80 %. Not sure what that means though.

It's a toy.

I need to go back and do mine over with:

1-unwatchable
2-watchable
3-not terrible
4-below average
5-average
6-above average
7-good
8-great
9-amazing
10-masterpiece

My 8s and 9s were pretty meaningless before.

And I'm redefining "average" to "average for anime that *I* actually watch."

Heh. Mine's totally unsystematic and based on how I feel about the show when I add it. I've down- and upgraded stuff, when I felt like it, too, but that's rare. A probable scale would be:

1 - The world would be a better place without it.
2 - I wish I wouldn't remember this.
3 - I wish I hadn't seen this.
4 - Meh.
5 - Well, I've seen that, too.
6 - Seen it, moved on.
7 - Slightly fond of it.
8 - Fond of it.
9 - Very fond of it.
10 - Sets some sort of personal standard.

(8 and 9 are hard to differentiate, and so are 7 and 6. There are probably too few 8s and too many 7s, but oh well...)

I went ahead and updated mine with whatever was still on my externals, and pruned my scores down a bit so they're more meaningful on the high end than before.

As a result, my scale is
5+ enjoyable
7+ solid rec
9+ god-tier
10 masterpiece

Way too lazy to add the "currently watching" stuff.

I swear, American voice actors mispronounce Japanese names wrong on purpose.

There's no way anyone could continuously get them so wrong by accident.

More like the director tells them how to pronounce it, and they do as they're directed.

Not unexpected.
The nerdrage I've seen on other forums suggests otherwise.

Tack "people who have no pattern recognition" somewhere in there and it becomes much more accurate.

This is why the only anime board I hang out at is EvaGeeks.

Which, incidentally, just about the rest of online otakudom hates.

But I still can't help refreshing /a/ every few seconds hoping for a camrip to appear.

Wow! I just saw the new Evangelion. I like that Gendou and Asuka got married, and the angel in the wedding cake!

Oops, sorry for the spoiler.

Did you miss the part where I mentioned I've been refreshing /a/ constantly the last three days?

You're going to have to try much harder than that to troll me. Anno would not be impressed.

Just finished Star Driver.
I loved the ending.

[SPOILERS]

At first I was all like: "This is not how this series should be ending."
But then Takuto was all like: "Bitch, I CAN SEE IT!"
And awesome things happened.

Wish we had more of an epilogue, at the least I feel like we should know what happened back on the island since the seals were released.

Watched episode 1 of Sword Art Online.

Hmmmmm, let's see:
An MMO game that had only a thousand beta testers
Technology designed to intercept nerve signals that can emit microwaves powerful to fry the human brain
Apparently no safeguards being implemented in such dangerous technology for something like this

Also, this logic:
"So we just disconnect the NerveGear and we're safe."
"Nope, the Gear has a battery."
Well unless that battery lasts forever . . .

-and-

"Darn, this Kayaba fellow has the world by the balls. I mean, it's not like we could trace the signals from the NerveGear to the game's server(s) or vice-versa, and from there either alter the game code or find Kayaba and make him do it.
Or, you know, emit EMP at the NerveGear with an EPFCG, or alter the helmets themselves to be non-lethal, like say, take out the battery first and THEN cut the power. A single man developed both the tech for the helmets and the game--ALL BY HIMSELF. No one else has a clue how these things work."

And for buck's sake, it's just a plain old helmet that slips over the head. All you need to do is rip it off quickly and it won't matter that the microwave is emitted, BECAUSE THEIR HEAD WILL NO LONGER BE INSIDE IT!

Yep, it's definitely an anime trying to be technical.

P.S. Finally there's also the fact that since they're trapped in the game, they have no proof that anything Kayaba said is true.

The SF content is... dodgy. It's a male gamer's fantasy. Switch off your brain and enjoy it for what it is (if you enjoy stuff like this). It looks pretty and has a Kajiura soundtrack.

And the hubs and I are starting on the long journey that is One Piece.
Didn't see this until tonight...

I started watching One Piece a month ago. I'm 90 episodes in, and completely hooked. Hooked harder than I have been for any series for a long time. One Piece never struck me as the sort of series I'd really love, but it happened. The amount of episodes is daunting, but I'm on the journey too.

After not having watched any anime for months, a gorgeous AMV convinced me to watch Princess Tutu. I had always assumed it would be dumb because the art style is kind of childlike and I figured it would be about a girl with "ballet princess" fever, which is way too girly for me. But! It turned out to be awesome in much the way Utena is!

So, then I was fired up to watch more fairytaleish anime with interesting fantasy worldbuilding and some romance-related plot. I followed some recommendations from AnimePlanet. Unfortunately the next two I tried, Astraea Testament (Good Witch of the West) and Eternal Alice Rondo, were both pretty lousy (for opposite reasons). Astraea is too dark (I'm not up for a murder every other episode) while Alice is about as dumb as I though Princess Tutu was going to be, ignoring the potentially interesting worldbuilding in favor of annoying harem/big brother complex content.

Would that be this AMV? If so, it's the one that got me (and many others) into Princess Tutu.
