So I honestly don't really know how I came across this place, but I'm glad I did. I write short stories in various genres. Since it seems the process for becoming a published short story author isn't the same as that for a novelist, I'm joining in the hopes of looking around and finding some guidance to...well, the whole process, really. I mean, I enjoy writing, and while it would be cool to be able to do that full-time, I'm not counting on it happening. But once I get these short stories done, I have no idea what to do from there. I know there are various magazines I can submit to...almost too many it seems. Hopefully I can look around and get some pointers on what to do with these stories once I've whipped them into viewing-by-the-public shape. So...hi there!

Welcome aboard, Emptyeye. I know how you feel; it can all be rather overwhelming. Fortunately, you've come to the right place! Check out the Short Fiction forums further down on the main page. That would be a good start for you. And there's plenty of good info that pertains to multiple types of fiction in other areas as well. I hope you find what you're looking for, and good luck with your stories!

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. once I get enough posts under my belt here, I plan to share some of those short stories I mentioned to help better my writing/chances of being published. Just as a warning, I'm starting my authorship journey later than some...I was always good enough at "school" writing, but, while I had ideas in my head for years, I never felt any particular need to write it down, until now. In other words, that "terrible, unpublishable stuff" all authors have? You're probably going to see mine whether you want to or not. :D

Thanks again!
