Check out Kresley Cole. She's written quite a few historical romances, and she also has an entire series of supernatural romance. She is by far my favorite romance author.
I have to second the earlier recommendation for Meljean Brook. She has two paranormal series, both with incredible world building.
The Guardians series was inspired by Paradise Lost and features Guardians who are not actual angels but angel-like and demons with the all the books leading towards an epic good/evil showdown with Lucifer (although she uses religious ideas/imagery, its not Inspirational and contains sex). Her newer series is The Iron Seas and its a steampunk world setting. In both series, each book features a stand alone romance (the Guardians has a bigger overreaching series arc).
