*yawn* Back from a fun but exhausting convention to some great reviews! Really nice one from PW (no star, sadly) and a very enthusiastic double review from a couple of bloggers :D

P.S. Sadly Anthony Head couldn't make it owing to train disruptions, and I didn't meet any other TV celebs, so you can stop drooling. Unless you're a fan of China Mieville or Joe Abercrombie ;)

Conversation today:

Me: Man, I'm so short of time! I've got all these deadlines, and the edits....I've done edits before, but this is bigger, so....

Old Man: You're like this every time with edits

Me: Am not!

Old Man: Are too. I'm fully expecting an explosion in a day or two.

Me: Er....

Old Man: It's okay. I expect the stressing actually adds to the finished product. Like, if you didn't stress, you wouldn't get it right? Or it wouldn't be as good?

Me:....

Old Man: I'll take the kids out in Sunday so you can get some work done. How's that?

I love my Old Man. :D

Awesome, Julia!

I recall a similar story about Neil Gaiman phoning up his editor (or maybe his agent) about halfway through Anansi Boys to stress about how rubbish the manuscript was and he was thinking of giving up on it - only to be gently told that he did this with every book.
