***Voting has unofficially closed.***
Looks like The Lies of Locke Lamora wins by a landslide. The plan is to begin discussing it on September 7th, so if you need something to read over Labor day, have at it!
***Thank you***

Okay, with many thanks and apologies to Broken Fingers (for setting up the book study and for my sliding past his decision to skip September), I bring you the poll for our September study. If you aren't familiar with this, please see the other threads, but in short, which would you like to (re)read and discuss?

The Lies of Locke Lamora

or

The Name of the Wind

Feel free to sway the vote in this thread- I'm still on the fence.

In interest of time this poll will run until Sunday night or Monday or whenever we have enough votes to determine a landslide (how's that for ambiguous?)

Hahahaha! Well done, Bahamut. :D

I've read both but I voted for Lies of Locke Lamora to consolidate the vote.

It's 6:0 in favor of Lies at the half way mark!

As expected, Wind is available at my local library and Lies is not. Ah well, I requested it, and maybe I'll see if the local bookstores have it on clearance....

Cheers,
Christina

I went with Lies. I hope everyone who is interested is able to get a copy and read it in the alloted time (give or take) :)

I own Lies - read it just this spring after a recommendation from our own Shweta.

And I'm reading Ender's Game a month too late (and the Shadow/Bean books because my library has them all).

So we're reading Lies? Okay, I'll go hunting for it at the library.

Yep, Lies it is.

Giving this a healthy bump thanks to all these loose threads and CHAOS around here... Remember- September 7th; go go go!

My copy off Lies arrived two days ago. ^_^ Chapters is so speedy with shipping. My local library has a copy of The Name of the Wind, so I also plan to read that eventually.

This is surprising, given that it involves a con as slippery as Locke?

Y'might want to check the voting machines. ;)

(But I would've voted that way anyhow.)

Haha, I would, but since no whistle blowers have appeared, i assume them all dead. No need for me to join their ranks, tnx.

I just got my copy of Lies from the library. Locke is a crafty kid that may just put Ender to shame ;)

And then he grows up. :D

Sorry. I've been sorta stuck on this book lately. I'll be quiet. :e2zipped:

E-book? (Assuming you want to stare at a monitor that long).

Don't worry, you don't have to join the discussion the first day. If you roll in a few days late, we'll still be around and chatting :)

Amazon? Ebay?
Or maybe you could ask the library what their policy is on ordering books. I know the libraries in my area will order a new book into the system for £3, they may be able to do something similar where you are.

I am sorry I missed this. Name of the Wind is one of the best I've read in some time. I don't have enough enthusiastic things to say about it.

Yes, I had to finally do this. I can't believe I can't find this book in a bookstore.

My local library will get the book for me from another library. I just don't know how soon that will be. And then, of course, I have to read it.

If Amazon doesn't have used prices to your liking, you can sometimes find what you want for less through bookfinder.com. I ordered Lies by priority mail the other day and I expect it in a day or two.

I pay for everything with either cash or check. No credit cards.

Woohoo, I got my book!

Now I just have to read it. When are we starting the discussion?

Creepy and wrong.
Just for you, Bahamutbrat, I extended this month's book budget. Don't say I never do anything for my fellow high priestess.

With any luck I'll be done with it in time for the discussion.
