Hello, My name is tabythalynne. I'm new here. I write mostly horror short stories but have a young adult fantasy fiction novel coming out soon. I joined this forum because someone directed me to it when I asked how to go about getting beta readers who are very good at helping to catch flaws in a story line. Does anyone know of any good beta readers who are looking for books?

Welcome.

We have a forum to request beta readers, but it usually best to become a regular part of the AW community first. People are more willing to be a beta reader for someone they know.

HIYA!

Welcome.

The mouse eater is right. It's worth the effort to get to know some of these yahoos, though. There are some really great writers, and, more importantly, some really good people.

There's also a Share Your Work section here to get some tremendous feedback. To use it, you need to build your post count up to 50. I'd suggest critquing other people's work. It's a great way to build that rapport so people will want to return the favor.

Anyway, welcome. I hope you love it here.

Hi there! Congrats on finishing your book. That's always a huge step when you love writing. This is a great community, you're going to like it here. There's plenty of people who are willing to help you become the best and most successful writer you can be. Its really exciting.

I know everyone has already said it before, but it bears repeating: get to know everyone. Take some time to post in the forums. Read ALL the FAQs. They're not only helpful, they're very useful. You'd be amazed.

Once you hit that fifty post mark you can start sharing your work. That will give you an idea of what kind of critique works well for you and what doesn't. It will give you plenty of time to learn the personalities of the people who frequent the boards. Then you can start looking for a beta. I would also suggest working with other people's work too...not only does it make you and integral part of the community, but it will help you become more aware of your strengths and weaknesses as a writer. That, too, will make it easier to find and destroy those pesky mistakes that keep us from being our best.

Good luck!

Like...cough...the muppet, for instance. Many AW members will happily point you to him, especially if you want to annoy AC. ;) But be warned -- action against a mod may (gulp) get your avatar changed. :D

Welcome to AW!
