Greetings!

I am a journalist and aspiring author -- I live in Brooklyn and I think the rule is one must be working on a novel to get an apartment in the hipster-friendly borough?

I shopped my first YA manuscript 2.5 years ago, had some agent interest -- positive response to queries, requests for fulls, etc. -- but ultimately it never went anywhere, and I decided to follow everyone's advice and start writing something new.

So! My second YA manuscript is finished and ready to go, but my query has been receiving only form rejections thus far. Le sigh. I think this book is better than the first (one hopes), I'm just trying to determine: is the query that bad? Has the market changed that much? Is my idea kinda played out?

Good thing I'm stubborn?

Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to poking around in Query Letter Hell to see what everyone's submissions look like. As a journalist, I'm lucky enough to have editor friends to look at my stuff, but, you know, they're my friends -- so sometimes I wonder if they're just being nice!
