Hey all! Sure do hope Susie and Howie are doin fine.

I've had a stressful morning, but I've only been up for less than an hour. The genius that I am decided to tackle the most stressful problem first, so it's all up hill from here...

Or down hill?

On the one hand, up hill sounds better.

But it is easier to walk down a hill.

Whichever one is the better direction, that is the direction I hope to be heading

I found this sort of funny.

I have a friend who is getting married soon. She posted on Facebook that she wished she could invite everyone, but they just couldn't arrange that. But . . . if anyone wants to be a "part of the wedding" there is this nice wedding registry website where people can chip in to help pay for their honeymoon trip.

It sounds a bit like: "No, you're not invited to the wedding but we'd still love to have you buy us a gift."

I can't be doing with that 'pay for our honeymoon' thing. It's weird.

It's like handing over envelopes stuffed with cash before they'll let you into the ceremony. And I also wonder what happens if they don't get as much cash as they bargained for. Do they not go on honeymoon? Or do they downgrade?

I think I'd rather just buy a present. I mean, if they don't like it, they can always sell it and then use the money to pay for their honeymoon. But tapping people up for cash just seems really vulgar.

Or is that just me? Mebbes I'm just totally old fashioned and stuff.

I agree.

IMO, the only people who might consider handing over cash would be close family. The rest should do gifts. It's just . . . not cool the other way around.

If she had just posted something about where they were registered it wouldn't have seemed as odd to me.

Starting with "Sorry, we can't invite you . . . " and then ending with "Here's where you can sign up to make a donation for our trip" just hit me as funny.

Many of our friends, both on Facebook and not, want to be invited to our wedding. However, in todays economy, it is simply not possible to invite everyone we wanted to share our day with. We do not want to exclude anyone and posting pictures later is a definite. We want to have a honeymoon and have registered with Honeymoon Wishes. We would love to have you feel as if you are a part of our day....and of our Honeymoon.

She's a nice person and I don't think she was really mining for gifts (exactly), but it did sort of read that way to me.

Ha! This is what I get for opening my big stupid mouth. So far I found out my dad is in the hospital, not responding well to oxygen treatments after a asthma attack and one of my favorite regulars died this morning.
