*collects all the scissors* :gone:

You guys cannot be trusted.

Actually, I always thought you could do some serious damage with a compass. Spent most of my time in class thinking about that and not actually using it for what it was intended.

No wonder I failed geometry.

I was only 7, I cant be held responsible. Plus his sight was fine, he was only bleeding a little.

In my defense:

  1. It was his fault. He reached for them.
  2. He only bled a little.
  3. And he was an :censored so no one felt bad.

Though to this day, I have at least one childhood friend who is rather convinced it was on purpose.

Number 3 is the only justification you need in my opinion.

There's no "justification" needed. It was an accident.

Seriously.

Would I have stabbed him on purpose under different circumstances? Possibly. But that is so not the point.

Ah, violent stabbings. Just another day in the cafe, is it? I have a scar on my ring finger from where I was (foolishly) fighting with my brother over a pair of scissors. Bled LOTS. How old was I? Nine? Ten?

Now I'm covered in burn scars from the bakery.

Here, there, everywhere.
I like things to be quiet, like a funeral home, only without all the flowers.

Hey, I like flowers!

I also like graveyards on bright sunny days. Particularly weekdays when they're mostly empty. Great for reading times.

:D Boss says it's hard finding the big b-day cakes that are all chocolate, so I told him he had better start searching, then. I will have my chocolate!

Yays! :hooray:

I did stab a kid in the wrist with a pair of scissors in the 7th grade. It was entirely accidental, I swear.

:D

Right, right. :D

The ex has an uncle who lost an eye with a pair of scissors, when he was a kid.

My favorite eye horror story happened with my mom. Paper cut to the cornea.

*shudders*

These tendencies usually show up early, don't they?

*thinks back on her own childhood*

*cries* I have to cut 1000 words off a story to make a word count limit. I've already cut over 200 this morning. But I can't do any more...:e2thud:

Aww, there there. Word counts hate us all equally, don't they?

They do. :e2bummed:

I'm at the point where I think I'm going to query and ask if it's okay. They say you can query for longer works. But I *hate* to be a bother. It's just...I've reviewed every scene and they are all important to the plot...and I've cut lines and tightened as much as I can.

This has honestly never happened to me. Usually I can do it. I can hack and slash with the best of them until it fits. It's not fun, but I can do it.

Hmm...no horror stories with scissors in them from my youth, but I do recall a few incidents involving darts...

Right, you're the one I go to for the hacking and slashing, because I really suck at it. I say you query it as is, if you already slashed away at it then I know it's as tight as it's going to get.

There comes a point where what you remove takes away the voice and character of the piece, so don't cut too close to the bone on the story.

I went looking for the story about one submission that ran twice as long as the magazine indicated it wanted, and still got accepted, but my Google-fu seems to be failing me...
