Okay, so this today has started October off with a BANG for me. I have now officially gotten EIGHT rejections in ONE DAY!!!!!!!! I feel the need to explain that these queries went out at different times, some were snail, some were e-mail...I opened my mailbox today thinking how long it had been since I'd heard anything from anyone...only to have SASE's spill out on me like the great flood. There were five in there. Then, speckled throughout my day were e-mail rejections, three of them. I felt like up until today I have dealt with rejection pretty well, for the most part, but then again, they had trickled in one at the time. Eight in one day? Did they all get together and decide to teach me a lesson? LOL...I'm batting a thousand today! In one day I have managed to have a total of twelve rejections over the course of two months jump to 20. I have to laugh to keep from crying. Ok, so I'm done with my rant. Thanks for listening, Y'all!

That sucks. No other word for it. It just sucks.

Have a brownie.

With extra hot fudge.

And french vanilla ice cream.

That's really rough. You have my sympathy. I'm also being rejected and have reached a point where I'm afraid to open my mailbox.

I agree that sucks and I know why you feel "picked on!"
Hang in there, sweetie.

Get back on your bike. You'll be fine. Receiving rejections means you're submitting...that's always a good thing. Persevere. Good luck on the next eight.

Hi Colby,

I came to this part of the forum because I got a rejection today - but mine was just the one-at-a-time kind.

When I read your post my mind jumped to the MASH episode where one guy gets a Dear John letter from his girl who asks for her photo back. So a whole bunch of others give him photos of different girls and he sends them all to her telling her to take hers and send the others back to him.

There's probably not a message in there, but there might be a bit of a laugh.

I hope the edge soon wears off.

8 in one day? That's pretty harsh. I get bummed if I get one. I tink my record is three. But 8.

I feel for ya, Colby. :(

The only cure is to keep subbing, though.

That completely sucks and you have my sympathy. Rejections are discouraging at the best of times, but 8 in one day is downright crushing. Try not to think about it. Keep on writing and submitting.

Yep, pretty much agree with the "sucks" consensus. It'd knock my for a loop. And I know that any of us telling you that it's only a minor obstacle won't help, but...

My favorite rejection story is Stephen King's pile stabbed through a railroad spike. He amassed a pile thick enough to hide the damned spike! Now, he can't write fast enought to plaese the world. Have a drink and take a load off. Then, tomorrow, sent out another pile of subs, enough to choke the Post Master General!

8??? The number grew to 8???

Oh sweetie! That qualifies as worst rejection day of the month (and it's just the start).

Someone get this woman some chocolate! Stat!

Yes, Soccer mom, sad but true...the beginning was only in the mailbox yesterday morning. But I'm now back in Query Hell over n the share boards to revise my query and hope to make it better and press on. Thanks for everyone's words...feeling loads better this morning (albeit still daunted, lol)

I am so sorry to hear that - 8 in one day is so much to process. I hope a request comes soon to offset the pain of the rejections.

It'll get easier as you submit more and start getting requests.

Ouch. That has to sting. And, yes, sucks is just the right word. I thought my four in one day was bad.
