why is this thread empty?

Haskins, so sounds like this could be one of two viable possibilities. I don't do true crime stuff at all so my analysis will be a joke and maybe way off base.

(1) Kidnappers and parents hatched plot to drum up money.

(2) Something went south between a few drug dealers.

I am betting on (2), myself.

I've been hearing about this on the radio, it was scary when the girl was missing, but now it's just a little bizarre, but the "something went south [The South gets no respect] between drug dealers" appears to be the correct answer:
