Here's some nostalgia for us old folks, and history for the kids. ;) Great photos at this link.
NASA released a series of photos Tuesday that show in greater detail than ever before the four-decade old spacecraft and other equipment left over on the moon from the Apollo program.

Also seen in great detail are the footprints made by the astronauts and the tracks made by their moon buggy.

Here's a fun comparison: pictures of the Apollo 17 site.

The picture at the top was taken by either Cernan or Schmitt (I would guess Cernan) as they were leaving the Moon in the LM ascent stage.

The picture at the bottom was taken by the LRO.

As it happens, they were taken at different times in the Lunar day. In the top picture, the sunlight is coming from the right; in the bottom picture it's coming from the left. There's a common optical illusion with these lunar pictures, where craters often look like mounds until you think about which direction the light is from, and make your brain adjust.
