Pirates, pirates, or some post-modern interpretation of pirates, or sci-fi reimaginig of pirates?

In short, are there ships and wenches and booty?

Those wonderful accents

Hi, my name is Debio, can I play, too?

On the topic topic of accents, a little anecdote. As part of my job, I used to help take a group of Japanese junior high and high school students to Australia for home stays. The school we went to had a few British teachers.

One day, one of these young women sat with me at lunch and commented on how much she liked the American accent. It was amazing how many things went through my mind at once.

I have an accent???

Keep talking I think I'm falling in love with you and your accent.

I have an accent???

I should stop talking to you, my wife is gonna kill me!

I have an accent???

Nah, I don't have an accent, it's all those other silly people, except for the ones who sound really sexy, they're cool.

Debio! Konichi wa! Hajemimashite! Uroshko onageishimasu! (yeah, I know, i spelled it wrong; i also exhausted the entirety of my Japanese, so take it for what it's worth)

All the same, pull up a chair, sit a spell! Have a magical self-refilling glass, watch out for the smibbles, watch out for the kraken, he's bad tempered in cold weather.

Huh, I thought you were the type to enjoy a little "pillaging."

:D

Are you offering, sailor? :e2brows:

But junior high school students are so cute!

In a kitten or puppy sort of way. Except for the 14 year olds. Human 14 year olds are mostly obnoxious twits who think all adults are stupid, especially the foreign teacher. Then they turn 15 and are cute again.

God, I wonder if I can put my son in deep freeze for that year, any news on suspended animation? Think anyone will figure it out in the next 12 years?

Arigatou, minna. Isshoni asobou!

I have long asserted that there is no nastier, more evil creature on the planet than a thirteen year old girl or a fourteen year old boy. I should know, I used to be a thirteen year old girl. I still haven't figured out why my mother never smothered me in my sleep that year.

I vote for the kennel. Put them out there when they turn 13, leave them there until it's time for them to go off to college.

*wanders back into the cantina*

I never want to see a plane again. Or a moving box. Or a flight time that means I have to be up at 1am, drive for three hours, and get on a plane.

How is everyone? It's only been five days, but from the page count it looks like you've kept yourselves busy :)

Yikes. Three hours? How far from civilization are you, Sian?

I got the 80s music stuff down. I have been thinking about one of those collections though...

Could you tell me, how much do they eat and are they easily toilet trained?

We get lots of snow here and I already have enough trouble taking the dog out.

Turkey jerky and couscous, mostly. The occasional lime to ward off scurvy.

Easy compared to what? A labrador retriever? An angry ex-lab chimp? (why won't he stop throwing it!?)

Snow? :Wha: I don't know anything about that.

*pops into the Cantina before bed*

Hi Debio, welcome!

Been in the editing cave tonight. I'm going to have nightmares about eyes. Rolling eyes and gazing eyes and sweeping eyes and eyes that widen and sliding eyes and amused eyes and glinting eyes and...

It's two in the morning, and I can't stop picking at this story. I'm writing, and I can't stop!

Somebody make me put the computer down and go to bed!

Hmm, well, see, since I was raised in a small town on the coast of Oregon, and schools closed down for 2 inches of snow.... What we get here is a lot. :)

I had about 5 feet in my back yard when I left for work this morning and it's been snowing all day.

Took me a moment to figure out your comment about not knowing snow...oops, so, how bout them err, what sports season is it now?

psssst!!!

the alaskan is trying to lead you astray!!!

That's ok. My old pastor always warned me about those Alaskans who would lead me astray. I never understood him. Being led astray was always entertaining at the least and down right fun most times.

Probably why I no longer go there.
