Dang, Syd!!!! get that looked at!!

Ok. So we had some excitement. for those who don't follow me on Twitter, a huge gorgeous ginger tomcat came a checkin' out my porch. Cricket was beside herself! She chattered at him and meowed and meowed. He just sat there, staring at her like "what's wrong with you?" Then he went and laid down while this hysterical female is crying and going on. It was funny. He was so gorgeous.

Then he left us, and she was bereft... stared after him, knowing he wasn't coming back... then she went and chowed down at the food bowl, and then stared after him some more... now she's laying on her bed (a blankie and my ottoman - the cat is the only one in this house with a place to sit, seriously!) being very dramatic.

The most interesting Tom in the world....

My mother would probably love the sweet potato bread. She always had a large box of sweet potatoes around (either grown by herself or a neighbor).

It came out sort of.... wet... but it dried up a little on the cuttingboard, in a good way. Still pretty moist and a good flavor. I'm looking forward to eating it tomorrow.

I put the recipe into my "Calorie counter" diet thing I'm going to do, online, and it gave me an "A" in nutrition, since it was made with whole wheat flour, no oil and very little sugar. Here is the recipe

1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
4 oz unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup SPLENDA Brown Sugar Blend
1 large egg
1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
1/4 cup non-fat milk
1 cup mashed sweet potato
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees
combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar in a large bowl
place egg, milk, applesauce in a small bowl
add wet ingredients to dry
stir in mashed sweet potato, followed by walnuts
spoon batter into a 9 x 5 loaf pan coated with nonstick cooking spray
bake for 1 hour

I like sweet potatoes, but I don't want them often. Now you've gotten me wanting a baked sweet potato.

Afternoon NF. :)

I just cleaned out my shelf full of Uni crap. I've kept maybe 1/3 of what was there (because I still need that stuff for essays or studying for the exam) but the rest has been tidied away.

So I went to put a bunch of books into my bookcases, and realised that once again I am running out of room. Might be time soon to buy another bookcase.

It kind of makes me want to spend the day reading... Though I should probably work on my second essay.

:hi: Cliff. :)

Cleaning out bookcases always makes me want to read or reread something. But you should work on your essay. ;)

I've run out of bookcase space, so I'm now using the most convenient shelving . . . the floor.

LOL. I don't have a lot of floor space in my bedroom, so that's out...

And my bookcases are presently in the garage, which has a dirty floor. Of course, that floor in there is usually covered by mum's car, so...

Actually, if I can fit a new bookcase in a room somewhere, it'd give me a good excuse to go back to the store I used to work at and say hi to some people. They have bookcases there, along with a lot of other things.

Right now, though, the wall in the garage where my bookcases are also have 3 DVD tower unit things for mum's DVD collection. She's planning on getting rid of 2/3 of the collection, because she never watches them, so she'll just choose her favourites and get rid of the rest. So maybe once she's done that I'll have room for another bookcase. :)

It's not urgent - I still have some space right now.

I'm watching a PBS special about the "British invasion" (no, not the one in 1814, the musical one that began in 1964). It's a special concert with singers and groups that were popular in the 1960s.

It's a little strange. A lot of those people are in the sixties and seventies now (maybe eighties). It's odd to watch an old fart who looks like he needs a walker sing Wild Thing.

I think they would have but it was a sensitive subject, seeing all those Commonwealth flags going past. A reminder of what they lost. Doesn't help that they will lose Jamaica this year.

Hello Gail, Hello Rob and Hello Cliff! And hello to anyone else here :)
