I was watching "Secret Window" last night, and it occurred to me that Hollywood always portrays writers/novelists as slightly unkempt, and usually wearing a bathrobe and pajamas.
At first I thought, "What a stereotype!" Then I realized that I also tend to wear a bathrobe and pajamas all day.
Do any of you have a favorite Hollywood Writer Stereotype that you secretly identify with?
My favorite will always be Kathleen Turner as Joan Wilder, the romance novelist in "Romancing the Stone". She wasn't wearing a bathrobe at the beginning, but she was wearing a nightgown, and she lived alone with her cat.
I don't live alone, but for some reason, whenever we watch that movie, my husband goes, "It's you!"
Maybe because of her penchant for mini liquor bottles, too...
