Publishing on Amazon Kindle - what's your take?

Hello everyone,

I have been wondering about the publishing opportunity through Amazon Kindle for new authors. How would this publication affect a writer's chances of being picked up by traditional publishers? Does Kindle work, in terms of actually selling books and making some money? Personally, I don't know anyone who has this machine for reading books.

Well, being in Edmonton (I assume) you probably wouldn't see too many people with Kindles -- neither the hardware nor the books are available outside of the US at the moment.

As to you other question, I have no idea. My publisher sold ebook rights for me, including to Kindle, so it was all part and parcel.

You don't really publish 'on Kindle'. If you have already decided to publish in ebook form Kindle/Mobi is a format you or your publisher may offer. If you have a good epublisher Kindle sales will be a pretty small proportion of your total sales.
