The odds are low but that would still be awesome.

Don't give up hope, Ari. I remember when I was really discouraged by even considering the possibility of wanting to get published because I write black female leads and there aren't a lot of YA supernatural novels with black leads in them. But you never know!

Oh, Akasha, I'm saying because I plan to just self-publish. It's VERY rare for a self-pubbed author to get picked up by an agent. It does happen sometimes (most notable example I can think of being Amanda Hocking), but not much.

Did you see my earlier comment, Ari? Self pub definitely presents great opportunities, but you shouldn't give up on traditional publishing just yet for your YA fic. Don't box yourself.

I did not see your comment. It's really not that I'm giving up. It's that after all my research I feel like self-pubbing is the better option for me right now. Thanks though

And gah. The person who I babysat for this time last year just asked me to babysit again. I want to, because that means money. I like money. But, it would involve me waking up really early. I also have to find a ride because she doesn't live in my town. And her kids are also kind of a handful.
I don't know what to tell her. I *should* do it. I just don't know if I want to.

reading 5 books a day is an awesome accomplishment, though. I can't even read a book a month anymore.

Ah, you didn't miss anything--it was just me capslock internet yelling about my professor assigning me extra work & how I think 98% of scholarly literature is complete bullshit.

I normally don't read 5 books in a day. But I want to read 200 books by the end of the year, and right now I'm like 7 books behind where I should be.
