It's a wonder, ideas start to flow when you go outside to visit a shop. Then bang! you get the idea for story, more specific idea.

Hmm.

Okay, so this is irritating me. I was just watching TV, a nice little sitcom, and there appeared at the bottom of the screen some scrolling text.

To paraphrase the text:

"Breaking News! Such and such a sports coach has been sacked. News later on such and such a sports show."

WTF? That's not breaking news! Okay, so it might have just happened, sure, but it's not like the Prime Minister was attacked by a ninja! A sporting coach was sacked? Get that shit off my screen.

I've often suggested that people go for a long walk when they get hung up on a story.

"Such and such" ? o_O Strange and irritating indeed. What's a breaking news is that?

@Alleycat, Yeah I should go for walks since it's autumn here. :D Inspiration storms ahead.

I couldn't remember the names of the sacked coach or the sports show, so I substituted "such and such".

But yeah - how is that worth putting text over the bottom of a popular TV show?

Big deal. A coach got sacked. Ppfffhhtt.

If it's to do with rugby, right now during the World Cup and with a huge rugby supporting nation like Australia - then yes, it is a big deal. You're lucky they didn't cut the programme and go straight to the story.

:hi: Hi all,

I agree, Sadron. Ideas for stories can just pop into one's head at the most surprising times and places.

They're always scrolling stuff on the bottom of the TV screen here on the commercial channels. I think we've just learned to ignore most of it. It's hard to ignore a weather warning however; they use a warning sound that sounds like a semi-trailer truck is about to come through your living room.

My cat is currently underfoot because there is a rubber band (elastic) over here she is bound and determined to get.

Lovely pic!

I imagine that weather warnings, especially in tornado alley, are pretty useful. Here, you'd have to tune in to the weather channel. The national broadcaster will frequently stream a commentary on electricity usage and, if it's high, ask viewers to turn off unnecessary lights and appliances. We have power issues. :D

Okay, the test is over.

You scored a 74. You play well with others, but you talk too much in class.
